“Fuck you.”
“No, buddy, fuck you. Now get on your knees.” Jayden’s finger hooked tighter around the trigger as if readying to fire.
A muscle jolted in Gary’s cheek. He threw Tammy a nasty glare then sank to his knees. His chest was still rising and falling fast with his breaths, and blood dripped from his nose.
Jayden widened his stance as he held the gun steady on Gary’s head. “Now say sorry.”
“What?”
“Say sorry to her, for everything you’ve done.”
“I ain’t fucking apologizing for keeping my wife in line.”
“You are the lowest form of goddamn life, you know that?” Jayden switched the gun around, shoving it beneath Gary’s chin and forcing his head back, his neck at an almost unnatural angle. “Men like you don’t deserve to walk on this earth.”
“I could say the same about you, lowlife criminal that you are.”
“I ain’t ashamed of what I do.” With his free hand, Jayden gestured to Tammy and Zak. “And you can bet your life, when you’re gone, I’ll make sure your son grows into a fine man who knows how to treat a woman with respect not hate and disdain.”
“He’s a fucking pathetic little kid, spineless and—”
Jayden cracked the handle of the gun over Gary’s temple. Hard, sending him reeling to the floor. In a flash, Jayden was standing over him, looking for all the world like he was about to fire at near point-blank range into Gary’s face.
It was then Tammy heard the rumble. Thunder and an earthquake combined. A quick glance out of the window and she saw the source.
Devil’s Barbarians.
Lots of them.
A swarm of big, shiny black bikes with leather-clad riders atop were pulling up outside her home and blocking the road. They moved with purpose, dismounting, striding, and approaching the house.
Wyatt and Carter were first through the doorframe. Both men took in the scene.
“You and the kid okay?” Wyatt asked her, his tone brisk.
She nodded.
“Looks like you caught the son of a bitch then,” Carter said, shoving his hands into the front pockets of his leathers and sneering down at Gary spread-eagled on the floor with a gun aimed at his face.
“And I’ve just started delivering the world of pain he’s gonna feel before I’m finished.” Jayden’s voice dripped with fury.
“I’m gonna fucking sue your ass for this,” Gary snapped.
Carter laughed and rocked back on his heels. “Yeah, sure you are, asshole.”
“What’s going on?” Hudson stepped in. Shades on, smoke in hand. “Ahh, we meet again, Gary.” He nodded slowly. “Not looking quite so smart as you did on your wedding day.” He studied Gary’s swelling, bleeding face. “But I could tell then you were a pathetic prick.”
“You.” Gary glared up at him. “Are exactly what your brother says you are, a lowlife—”
Hudson delivered a swift kick to Gary’s ribs.
“Argh!” Gary yelped and twisted to the side.
“Keep fucking still.” Jayden bunched Gary’s t-shirt just below the throat, lifting him as he rammed the gun into his mouth, the metal clanking off Gary’s teeth.
Gary froze and his eyes widened.
“I swear I’ll fucking kill you, right here, right now.” Jayden was practically vibrating with anger. His fury was likeanother living presence in the room.
