A rush of protectiveness came over Jayden. Tammy’s love for her child was unconditional, pure, and fearless.

She clicked off the bedside light, then left the room.

Jayden stepped aside so she could shut the door, but he blocked her way to the kitchen.

She smiled up at him. “What?”

“I hope one day I’m lucky enough to have a kid as great as Zak.”

“I think he’s considering himself very lucky to have you in his life right now.” She touched his cheek. “You’re showing him how a real man behaves.”

Jayden caught her wrist and set his lips in the center of her palm. She smelled of the rose hand cream she always put on after washing the dinner dishes. “Don’t go thinking I’m perfect.”He raised his eyebrows.

“Oh, don’t worry, I know you’re no stranger to sin.” She moved closer, her body heat radiating on to him. “But you know what they say.”

“What?”

“The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” She paused. “But a woman, the way to her heart is through her children.”

He laughed softly. “I’ve never heard that.”

“It’s true. Seeing you and Zak together, the way you are with him and how he smiles at you, it just makes me want you more.” She went up onto her tiptoes and kissed him.

For a moment, he was surprised that she’d made the first move, but then he wrapped her in his arms and lifted her.

She giggled and curled her legs around his waist.

“He ain’t gonna wake up until morning now, is he?” Jayden asked.

“No, I shouldn’t think so.”

He walked into the main bedroom, still carrying her. “Good, but I’m gonna put a chair beside this door, just in case.”

“Just in case of what?”

“In case he walks in and sees me giving his mother the best time of her life.” And that was exactly what he was going to do. Tammy deserved a night of orgasms, and he was the guy for the job.

He set her on the floor, beside the bed, then secured the door. He didn’t want any distractions from what they were about to do.

When he turned, she’d dropped her dress so that it had pooled at her feet. Her underwear was plain black, nothing fancy, but damn there was something sexy as fuck about her smooth, pale skin and slight new curves. She was the opposite to all the other women he’d ever been with, but maybe that waswhere he’d been going wrong.

He closed the gap between them, and she reached for his t-shirt, tugging it upward and then over his head. The gentle simple action sent a rush of blood to his cock. He’d needed her to make some moves, to know that she really wanted him, wanted sex. Her history made things complicated.

His t-shirt landed on the floor, and she tipped forward to kiss the hollow of his throat. A delicate whisper of a kiss, her breath warm and her lips soft.

He held in a moan of longing and slipped her bra straps over her narrow shoulders.

As her kisses spread to his neck, he relieved her of her bra and pulled her close, pressing her warm body to his.

Can we ever be close enough?

He tipped her chin with the hook of his finger and looked into her eyes. He saw trust and desire, and for the first time in his life, his whole damn future. “I really fucking love you,” he murmured, then caught her mouth in a kiss. He hadn’t said it to hear it back. He just had to let her know what was going on in his heart.

She was more responsive to his kiss than ever before, as if excitement had gripped her—excitement for their night ahead. Her hands slid all over his body, learning every dip and rise of his muscles. His cock ached for her to journey there and hold him for the first time.

He moved her to the bed, rid himself of his jeans and boxers, and sat with his back to the upholstered headboard. His erection stood proud, and he gripped the sheets, forcing himself to take it slow yet again. “You can lose those panties,” he said, his voice coming out as a low growl.

Her breasts jiggled a little as she obeyed and slid the panties down her legs, kicking them away. Her pubic hair wasn’t trimmed to within an inch of its life, and he liked that.Everything about her was natural and perfect. “God, you’re beautiful.”
