“Yes, boss.” Wyatt grinned. “On it now.”

Hudson looked at Tammy. “Be safe. Let me know if that prick of an ex shows up.”

“Will do. And thanks again.”

“Having you and Zak away from him is all the thanks I need.” He wandered off, sparking up his cigar with a chunky silver lighter.

Tammy rubbed her temple. The heavy atmosphere wasstarting to give her a headache.

“We should hit the road,” Jayden said. He glanced at his watch. “Past Zak’s bedtime.”

“Yes, and it’s a school night.” She stood.

Wyatt chuckled. “Look at you, man, all fucking domesticated and shit.”

“You want a punch to the guts as well?” Jayden’s top lip curled.

“No, buddy.” He knuckle-pumped Jayden. “If I get that sell up in Santa Monica, can you do the delivery?”

“Sure. No problem.”

“Cool, I’ll be in touch.”

“It was nice to meet you both.” Tammy smiled at Belle and Leah.

“You too,” Leah said. “Here’s my number. Ping me yours and I’ll let you know what we can do about your divorce.”

“Thank you.” Tammy pocketed the slip of paper. “I really appreciate it.”

Jayden was at her side. He touched her arm lightly. “You ready?”

“Yes.”

“Behave yourselves now.” Belle giggled. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”

“Which doesn’t leave a lot, babe,” Wyatt said, wrapping his arm around her and grinning. “But that’s why I love you so much.”

Chapter Eleven

Jayden wished he hadn’t lost it with Taff. Usually, he held his temper in check, especially with his club brothers. But Taff had hit a nerve, and that nerve was disrespecting Tammy. She’d had enough of that crap, and he was damn sure he wasn’t going to stand by and watch it happen again.

“Is he asleep?” he asked Tammy as she wandered into the living area.

“Yeah. His eyes were closing as I read his story.”

“The dog and the flea one again?”

“Yes, it’s his new favorite.” She smiled and sat.

“We read it at breakfast yesterday too.” He studied her. In the time he’d known her, she’d put on a few pounds, and it suited her, filled out her cheeks and her tits. She’d taken to wearing brighter colors too, and not such baggy shit, and again, that suited her.

It was clear her ex hadn’t beaten her spirit, just her body. And now that she was free, she was blossoming again. She’d been a small flower trampled to the ground, not watered for months, yet now she’d found her roots she was growing, her petals getting ready to unfurl.

And he wasn’t complaining about watching the process. When she was in full bloom, she was going to be spectacular.

She tipped her head. “What are you thinking?”

“Nothing.” He stood and reached for his gun that he’d placed on the highest bookshelf when they’d come in. “I’ll leave you to rest. See you in the morning.”
