She rested her head on his shoulder, over the wolf, and sighed. Things between her and Jayden had just gone up a level. But she wasn’t complaining. The way she felt right now, satisfied, safe, and adored, was worth the risk.

He stroked her hair, her back, and then an emergency vehicle with the siren blasting went past on the road behind the house. The loud noise broke the spell.

Releasing her, he stepped back. Completely naked. The towel that had been around his waist was on the floor beside her panties.

All she could see was his hard cock. It was enormous, the end wide and the shaft thick. She was staring, she knew she was, unblinking, but she couldn’t tear her attention away.

We can never have sex.

I can’t take that.

Gary was half the size.

Scooping up the towel, he quickly covered himself. “Hey.” He took her hand and squeezed it. “Stop it.”

“Stop … what?”

“Being frightened of me.”

“I … I … but…”

“You’re not ready for us to fuck. I know that, but I can wait.” He paused. “And if you’re never ready, that’s cool too. Because I willnotbe the man to put fear in your eyes, you hear me? Ever.”

“Okay.” She nodded. “Okay. Yes.”

His cell rang, and he stepped away.

Quickly, Tammy pulled on her panties, straightened her dress, and re-pulled her hair into a ponytail.

“Sure, I can come over. What’ll I do with Tammy and thekid?” Pause. “Yep, makes sense.” He glanced at her and grinned. “Yeah, boss, I’m taking good care of her.”

A rush of heat filled her cheeks. That was Hudson on the phone. Oh, God. If he knew what she’d just let Jayden, the man he’d sent to mind her, do, what the hell would he think?

She reached for the cross at her neck.

Jayden finished the call. “We’re heading out.”

“Where?”

“The compound. Hudson’s called a meeting at the table. I have a seat there, so I’m included.”

“What’s that mean?”

“I have a say in club decisions.”

She frowned, still not sure what he meant. “Business decisions?”

“Shit that goes down.” He shrugged and dropped the towel, flashed her his ass cheeks—no tats there—and pulled on his boxers and jeans. Then he added his t-shirt. The collar was frayed, the image of a red cobra on the front faded.

“I can’t go,” she said. “I have to collect Zak soon.”

He looked at his watch. Black strap, black face. “We’ll grab a bite to eat then get him.”

“But … I mean…” The compound intrigued her. She wanted to see it. “How will we get there? Zak can’t go on your bike.”

Frowning, he scraped his hand through his hair. “Shit. You’re right. I’ll get Wyatt to pick us up in the van.”

She went to the kitchen and poured a glass of water, sipped. She was still hot, and a little dampness had soaked onto her panties. She hardly felt like the same woman she’d been a few months ago. And now, with an orgasm still fizzing through her system, the first kernel of what happiness felt like began to grow within her.
