Damn, what I wouldn’t give for a hair tie right now.

“Hey, I hope you’re having a good time. The party is great, but something is up with my kid, so I’ve gotta run.”

“I thought that’s why you couldn’t come to my party? Where is this kid of yours?”

Just as I fumble for a lie to tell her—honestly, being awful at telling lies to begin with—I’m saved by a pistol-packing Santa who is sure to leave me longing.

“There you are. Are you ready to get out of here?” Leo’s deep voice brushes my ear, and his arms wrap around me, pressing me almost protectively against his bare chest.

The man is practically naked. What is he doing?

“Oh, um, yeah. We have to hurry. Sorry, Katie. Next time.”

Leo doesn’t give her any time to respond as she gawks at his impressive bare body. Or what she can see. For some reason, he stays behind me, leading me over to the elevator, and I let him, even though I was in the middle of my escape.

When the doors close, leaving Katie staring in confusion, he finally lets me go. I shiver, soaked to the bone, but I won’t admit I miss his warmth immediately.

“Thanks for the save.”

“Sure, no problem.”

He stands, turned toward the wall, with most of his back to me.

“What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

“Yeah. No need to worry about me,” he replies quietly.

I thought we had a moment in the pool, but it seems it was one-sided.

“But now you won’t even look at me. If you didn’t want to be taking me up to your condo, it would have been easier to just let me walk out the door, not push me in here with you—”

He turns with a shocked and apologetic look on his face.

“No, Olive, you got me all wrong. I’m just trying not to make you uncomfortable or embarrass myself.”

My brows furrow as I stare at him? What the hell is he talking about? I’m the one embarrassed, and he probably thinks I’m a mom now, if he overheard the conversation I was having with my boss.

He doesn’t say anything more, but turns toward the elevator doors when they ding. When I step out, my hungry eyes catch onto his abs and then down. I haven’t been this interested in a man in a very long time, and this one has the abs of a Greek god. Homer himself would have written stories about this man’s physical peaks…and then I spot it.

My eyes shoot ahead as I walk aimlessly down a hallway I’ve never been in before. I feel my own embarrassment heat my cheeks, but I can’t help but smile. Did I do that to him? He’s clearly hard, wearing only a pair of tight red boxers that do nothing to hide his impressive erection. It’s so large, in fact, my mouth waters, and my mind wanders straight to the gutter.

How would it feel sliding into me? Would it take my breath away with how full he could stretch me? Is he a dominant lover who’ll demand I get on my knees in front of him? Usually, that thought would turn me off like a switch, make it easy to walk away and spend another night alone, but Leo has been nothing but a southern gentleman since we met. And although strange circumstances, the thought of choking him down my throat and watching his eyes roll back sends a flutter to my stomach.

I watch a now very shy Leo avoid eye contact as he holds his hands over his junk and turns to let me into an unlocked condo.

“You didn’t lock it?”

He just shrugs. “Fitzy sent the boys to get me. I honestly thought it was an emergency. You know, since they said, ‘It’s an emergency.’”

I walk through his door, noticing the smell of warm vanilla, and I think that’s odd for a bachelor. I had assumed he was single by the flaunting done downstairs, but as I walk further into his home, I start doubting.

It starts with the pink backpack purse hanging off a kitchen chair. It’s decorated in cute pens, like a skeleton kitten face with crossbones. Purple and teal pillows on his couch…and is that a copy ofHarry Potter?

Nope, I can’t do this. Whoever his girlfriend is, she already seems awesome, and I can’t stop thinking about fucking her man.

“I should go.” I shake my head, feeling silly.

He’s just being nice. Even with an erection, he was a total gentleman that any girlfriend would be proud of.
