“I let go of her a long time ago, man. She was a fuck to get me through my life changing in the blink of an eye.” But was that really all she was to me? Of course, I cared for her, and if she ever needed help, she could call, but is it enough to bust up her wedding? I need to get my head on straight. Cherry sucking my cock helped me release some pent-up stress, and now, I can’t find myself caring enough to ride out and disrupt Mercy’s life.

He puts his cigarette out, his hands going up in surrender. “I get it. I was there through that time and while my shit wasn’t the same as yours, it was a rough few years for all of us.”

I nod. Grateful that I have a few men around that lived the life of a Widow Maker member and knew how psycho my father truly was. Life was absolutely nothing like it is now; we went through hell just to be able to eat. Our lives are good here—damn good—and it’s probably the main reason why we’re so damn devoted to the Oath Keepers and the other members in the club.

“Just making sure you weren’t gonna pull a Viking and pop smoke to chop some fucker’s head off without warning. I’m all for claiming a bitch, but you both never do anything half-assed.”

A smirk takes over my lips as I remember the story the brothers told me about Viking when he decided to fully claim Princess. He and Saint had some fun with an old prospect who was talking trash about Vike’s ol’ lady. My brother was a goner for her right away and went a little nuts hearing someone disrespect the woman that had unknowingly become his property. I get it, though; they have a crazy kind of love—obsessive, I think, is the better word.

That had to be why I lost it on them the other day. First off, from witnessing Viking’s ol’ lady surrounded by random assholes. She was busily flirting like she’s not owned by my flesh and blood, the president of the local MC club. Secondly, from walking in on my brother, the one man I believed to be completely devoted to his woman and it rocked my world. I feel betrayed myself with his actions. I can’t fathom what turmoil Princess is facing through all of this.

I must be her rock right now and make damn sure she has everything she needs, that she eats and is protected. If Viking were in his right mind now, this would have never happened and he’ll be beside himself when the fog finally clears away. I know he’ll want her taken care of and that’s what family does, they take care of each other.

Mom taught me that in the year I got to spend with her before she lost her battle to cancer. She may not have been my flesh and blood, but in the year I got to spend with her, she was the best mom I could’ve ever had. Princess was lucky to have her around when she was growing up and to have been kept away from the club life. In the end, her pops went off his rocker, losing it. The love of his life passing away from the black disease consuming her soul, then Princess was left with my brother and me to help her get through it all. Her dad drank himself stupid, only to finally get sober with the news of my sister-in-law’s pregnancy. In the end, she’s lost the baby, and my brother has become even more of an idiot.

Jesus, what a clusterfuck.I have my work cut out for me, and I know shit-all about making a woman happy. Well, without my dick being involved, anyhow. Maybe I should leave this to Chaos and Blaze to figure out.

A week passes by in a blur, and before I’m ready, it’s time for church. Viking hasn’t shown up to collect his patch and take back control yet, but then his bike’s also been gone from him and Princess’s house. Hopefully, the brother went for a long ride to get his damn mind right. I know he has to be having a seriously rough time dealing with everything to not have shown up claiming his club and ol’ lady back already.

The brothers steadily pile into the chapel, one after the other, each giving me a head nod of support. I can’t help but glance at Viking’s empty leather chair sitting at the head of the table a few times before everyone’s settled and ready to begin. Nightmare lights a cigarette, releasing an exhale of poison into the air while Blaze passes around shot glasses followed by a full bottle of the best apple pie moonshine we’ve found in the south.

With a shake of my head, I grab the gavel from my brother’s place. “I refuse to sit in his fucking chair. It’s bad enough this has to go down in the first place,” I state and slam the gavel to the oversized intricately carved oak table. The mood’s somber throughout the room, having to hold church without our fearless leader, but I refuse to allow the club to fall behind on business in my brother’s wake. It’s up to us to keep things going as he’d do if it were one of us having to split.

“Agreed,” Blaze mutters. “Prez needs you now more than ever, O.”

My cousin’s right, but I think Viking was the last person we all expected to ever need anything. “Let’s try not to fuck things up too badly while he’s getting his head right.”

“Good luck, kid.” Saint winks and I roll my eyes. He’s one to talk, being the member always wanting to stir shit up. His ol’ lady, Jude, has helped settle him a bit, along with Sinner, but deep down, he’s still the psycho Saint we all know.

“What’s on the table?” Nightmare asks with a grumble. His chestnut locks rest on his shoulders but shoot off in an array of directions as if he yanked it several times. His eyes are bloodshot as well. I really fucking hope he’s not fighting with his ol’ lady too.

“You good?” I respond, not used to Night grumbling at church right away. It usually takes at least twenty minutes before someone pisses in his Cheerios.

He exhales another puff of smoke with a shrug. “Mav got into it with someone at school.”

“No shit?” My brow jumps at the news; Maverick’s a good kid. Usually Night’s bursting about how great he’s doing in school or sports. This is the first I’ve heard of an issue. “What’s going on? You look like shit.” Maverick’s a little kid still. I can’t see how it could be serious.

“Two little girls were fighting over him. One decided to kiss him first to stake her claim. The girls ended up in a catfight out on the playground. The other girl admitted to the principal that Mav kissed her best friend before they started fighting and that he’d kissed her last week as well.”

A snort escapes Torch. He has a daughter and I’ve heard him mention time and again that his daughter is full of boy drama too. “I feel for you, brother.” He shakes his head, taking a swig of his liquor.

“That ain’t all,” Nightmare continues. “Fucking jack-off principal has mentioned expelling Mav for the remainder of the year. Dickwad says my boy’s crossing boundaries by kissing multiple girls at school.”

“What the fuck?” Mercenary bursts, folding his arms over his chest.

“Who the hell is this? Maybe a few of us should pay the principal a visit and remind them that we’re big supporters of the local schools. Hell, their Christmas program wouldn’t happen if it weren’t for the private donations we make. Too many Oath Keeper club brats go to that damn school.”

Nightmare stabs his cigarette out, running his hand through his crazy hair. I understand now why he looks like he hasn’t slept. He’s worried about his son getting in trouble and possibly losing his education. “She’s some feminist, man. I don’t understand the world right now, women acting crazy. Don’t they realize that most of us worship their asses? That we want to protect them and help them? I’m seeing more and more act like we’re the bad guys, wearing vagina hats and shit. They don’t need to wear ‘em. I gladly eat pussy and adore my ol’ lady.”

Torch lets out a growl. “I know exactly who the fuck you’re talking about. She’s given my daughter shit about me dropping her off on my bike in the mornings. She’s new this year, real uppity bitch, came from a big city.”

Blaze coughs. “Is she hot?”

Both men turn their gazes to my cousin and glower. Neither say a word, so we all know what that means. Blaze grins. “I see, so neither of you have fucked her then. Obviously not you, Nightmare, but Torch? You haven’t had her on your bike yet?”

“No,” he grumbles, gaze flicking to the table. He does think she’s hot! I bet this attitude gets my brothers all wound up from not being able to bend the bitch over and show her how to be fucked.

My mouth tilts up in a smirk. “Blaze.”
