“Bed’s a mess. Can we sleep in yours?”

“Course.”

It seemed so obvious. Why hadn’t he and Huds slept in the same bed before now? They both stripped off the rest of their clothes, tugged on their usual shorts to sleep and then collapsed in Ian’s bed, Huds taking the side against the wall and tugging the comforter over them both once Ian had flopped down on the narrow strip of mattress that was left.

Would he be able to stay balanced like this all night or would he end up on the floor? Hell, he probably wouldn’t notice until morning if he ended up on the cheap industrial carpeting stained with god knew what, so who cared? But Hudson did, and draped an arm over him, pulled Ian close until they were chest to back. Dipped his head with its tousle of brown disheveled hair until it tickled Ian’s ear.

“You belong to me. And I belong to you. You want to punch someone? You ask me first. Understood?”

“Yeah, man. I got you.”

“Good. Now go the fuck to sleep.”

It was strange and wonderful to be the little spoon to Hudson’s big spoon, his roommate’s arm banded across his chest to hold him still, Hudson’s half-mast enormous cock pressing just above the cleft of his ass. It was all just so much and Ian couldn’t locate the words to tell him so. How grateful he was, how happy he was, how loved and satisfied he felt. It wasn’t that everything was perfect but it was pretty fucking good and Ian never wanted to go without that kind of good ever again. So he did what any idiot would do and leaned down and bit Hudson’s meaty forearm.

Some people would’ve yelped or, hell, gone straight to shoving Ian out of bed—wouldn’t have been hard, his balance at the edge of the mattress was precarious at best, although with Hudson’s arm around him there was no risk of falling. But his roommate wasn’t some people. He was the best guy in the whole world and Ian had gotten damn lucky to to have him first in his room, then in his life, and now in his bed.

Hudson grunted in response to Ian’s teeth sinking into his flesh, and then hugged him tighter, pressed his mouth to the crown of Ian’s head and, yeah, fucking kissed him there. That was great.

“Seriously. You’re like a deranged red panda. Settle down.”

There was a warmth in his chest that was practically radioactive as Ian smiled to himself and closed his eyes, feeling for the first time in his life like he was exactly where he belonged.

Chapter One

Hudson

“Is he here yet, Daddy? Is he here yet?”

“No, teapot. I promised I’d let you know the second he arrives.”

Hudson smiled down at the walkie on the long dining table. It could’ve been annoying that Cosy’s voice crackled through the walkie talkie every few minutes to ask if her Sir was home yet, but it wasn’t. He could’ve been jealous that she’d been prowling the loft all week along with Stella, both the girls anxiously awaiting Ryker’s arrival, but he wasn’t.

His little family filled his heart to bursting, and after everything they’d been through it was tooth-achingly sweet to have them all fit together like he knew they could.

He looked up at the notes he kept on all the beer he made, skimming to help figure out what he was going to tackle next. Something new? An old favorite? Whatever it was, he’d need to order more supplies.

Maybe he’d let Cosy pick. She didn’t like the taste of beer—wrinkled her little nose and made a quintessential yucky face whenever she took a sip—but she did like how shiny his set-up was and helping him tinker with recipes.

It had been six months since she’d shown up half-dead on their doorstep and it was impossible to imagine her not being here. What had they done before their little ray of sunshine? He knew they’d been busy but for the life of him he couldn’t remember with what.

They went to see her parents every weekend and Janet and Enzo were really good people, plus excellent cooks so it was a pretty nice way to spend their Sunday afternoons. He’d told Cosy she was welcome to invite them to the loft sometime but she’d said no, not yet.

He could understand that—they didn’t exactly live the most conventional way and now that she had them back in her life she didn’t want to lose them. Although the cynical side of him said if they couldn’t accept Cosy for exactly who she was then they could jump off a cliff, he understood her reluctance to have them here and he’d respect it. All in good time.
