He smirks at me.

“You got it, big man. Now what do you want to bet I can make you scream?”

My wrists burn from where the rope rubbed me raw, my ass twinges from being impaled on that plug, and my throat is sore from swallowing him down, but I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. Maggie is sprawled across my chest, his fingers tracing shapes on my skin.

Why had I ever thought that leaving was a good idea? Why had I gotten so in my head about it? I was stupid. I’d disappeared so far into my mind that I hadn’t thought rationally.

He wasn’t ever better off without me. We’re better together. Mistakes will be made, compromises even, but it will be worth it. I know it’s going to take time to learn how to be loved by this man, but just like art, it’s something you perfect over time.

“I’m thinking silver bands. Matching, if possible,” Maggie says, peeking up at me and pulling me from my thoughts.

I nod. He can have whatever he wants, as long as I’m included in that.

“You think this is crazy, don’t you?” he asks, pinching my nipple lightly. “I mean we barely know each other.”

“I know you inside and out,” I mutter and thread my hands through his hair. He purrs and rubs his cheek against my chest.

“If you want, we can wait until next summer…”

“No,” I grumble. “This weekend is fine.”

He sighs. “Okay, so this weekend at the courthouse and maybe next summer, a large reception. That way we don’t interfere with Caleb and Whit’s wedding. I don’t want to detract from them, you know?”

He worries his bottom lip between his teeth, and I tug him up for a kiss.

“Your family’s going to think we’re ridiculous, aren’t they?” he asks as I nibble down his throat.

“So what? You kidnapped me and did they bat an eyelash?”

Maggie glances down at me, his lips twitching. “No, they seemed scarily invested in it, your mom too. She helped plot it all out. She supplied the rope.”

I groan and move to stand up, needing a sip of water for my parched throat. Maggie clutches onto me, sticking perfectly against me, his face tucked against my neck, and his ankles hooked around my back.

I lean down and grab a water bottle and uncap it, taking a lengthy swig before handing it to Maggie.

“Thank you, fiancé.” He smiles widely at me.

“Almost husband,” I grumble.

“Ooh, no need to get snappy, almost husband.”

He takes a long sip and then licks the water droplets from his lips. “Will you still stalk me when we’re married?”

I roll my eyes. “I don’t stalk.”

“I beg to differ, and you admitted that you do. So there.”

“Whatever. You want me to stalk you?”

“Um, yes. It’s weirdly hot.”

I press him against the wall and nuzzle my face against his cheek, my lips teasing his ear.

“Then I’ll keep doing it. You know I’d do anything for you.”
