Admirable trait in my book but I didn’t really know what she would do with her twin’s life on the line. It wasn’t like she was raised with the man. She barely knew him. The only thing linking them was the blood in their veins. For all I knew the man was a certifiable bag of fuck-nuts but that wasn’t going to stop my sister from rescuing him.

Thunder clapped loudly making me jump as I heard him scream out again. Fuck me. What the hell were they doing to that bastard?

This shit was getting out of hand.

I promised Bullseye that nothing would happen to Kitty. I even promised Reaper. Those were two fuckers I refused to disappoint. Well, mainly Bullseye. That bastard was scary on any given day but with his rifle…shit, everybody ducked for cover when he had that thing. The man never missed. That’s how he got the name Bullseye.

Checking out the area again, I whispered, “We can’t go in there by ourselves. We may have to abort.”

Yes, I know I was only thinking about saving my own skin but ensuring that nothing happened to my sister was the only way to survive to see another day. I did not want to be the one to tell Reaper or Bullseye that I got my sister killed. Not gonna happen. Even I had my limits and my self-preservation bell was ringing loudly.

“Hell no. I’m not leaving him in there.”

Fuck me sideways!

She was bound and determined to get me killed.

Stubborn woman.

Okay, reason always worked with Kitty. I could reason with her. Appeal to her humanity, though at the moment I wasn’t sure she had that trait. “We may not have a choice, Kitty.”

“I always have a choice. It may be the wrong one but I have a choice.”

That was for damn sure.

It was the wrong one.

Whatever she was thinking, was wrong. Like, step the fuck back, walk away and never think of it again, wrong. I knew my sister. She was going to ignore her gut and do something stupid. Which was technically my forte but hey, I was willing to pass the baton if she wanted it, just not today.

“We need an exit plan,” I said, then cursed myself. What the fuck was I saying? No, we needed to get the fuck out of here before we both died.

Fuck Sandman.

He had a good run.

His death was no skin off my back. Nope, I needed to grab my sister and get the fuck out of dodge and stop this madness.

Checking my phone for any message that I might have missed. My sister did the same. “Anything,” I asked, looking at her phone. When she shook her head no, I added, “Me neither. How much longer do you want to wait?”

“Five more minutes and then we’re going in.”

Stubborn woman. She was bound and determined to get me and herself killed today. What did I ever do to her? I was a good brother. I protected her, played fucking dolls with her, hell I even let her use me as a punching bag when she wanted to learn to fight. And let me tell you, my sister can hit.

Someone had to keep a clear head in all this mess and apparently it wasn’t going to be her. It was up to me. I could do it. I knew how to be logical. “No, we need a plan to survive this or we’re leaving because I don’t see a way out, Kitty.”

“Come on Savage. This is right up your alley. Guns, blood, death and all that shit.”

“Yeah but I don’t want to be the one dying!”

Kitty rolled her eyes and looked back at the shack as we both heard another guttural scream come from the house. “My God, what the fuck are they doing to him?”

I never lied to my sister. I wasn’t going to start now. “Killing him…slowly.”

It was at that moment I knew my mistake.

You see, unlike Kitty, I never thought before I spoke. Nope. I just said whatever came out of my mouth and was just as shocked by what I said as everyone else was.

No filter.
