“A boy. All boys are penises.” Kitty deadpanned. Remi laughed, and I gasped. “Kitty!”

“What?” the pretty redhead grinned at me. “It’s true.”

“Good morning, girls,” Momma Roxy said, walking into the kitchen looking fabulous as ever in her tight denim jeans, cowboy boots, and big hair, and a tight black top that sported the Golden Skulls emblem on it. God, she was terrific, and I wanted to be just like her.

“Nana Roxy look,” Rebekah said, holding up her coloring book.

“That’s amazing babydoll. Did you color that all by yourself?”

“Uh-huh!”

“Wow, you’re a true artist.”

“I’m gonna go show daddy,” Rebekah said, getting down when Momma Roxy stopped her. “I think daddy is in a meeting right now. Why don’t we wait until he’s finished, okay?”

“Okay.”

“Saw the boys head into church. Have any of you heard from Bullseye or Reaper?”

Both Remi and Kitty shook their heads no. When Roxy looked specifically at Kitty, the woman shrugged her shoulders. “All I know is that Dylan went after Layla and that Max and the others went after him.”

“Is Caroline still hiding out at her place?”

“Yep,” Kitty said.

“She’s gonna have a lot to answer for when they get back,” Roxy commented as she poured herself a cup of coffee. Leaning against the counter, she looked around the kitchen and smiled. “I see my baby girl cooked again.”

“I helped!” Rebekah grinned.

“Yes, you did, little miss. I couldn’t have done it without you.” I said, hugging her. “You are the best helper I ever had.”

Rebekah beamed with pride. I didn’t remember much of my childhood before my mother passed away, but what I did was the fun and laughter I had with her in the kitchen. She was always cooking something as we listened to music.

“How are you handling everything, baby girl.”

I shrugged my shoulders. What could I say? I couldn’t change the past. I wouldn’t want to. Looking at Rebekah and how much life and love was within her, I wouldn’t change a thing. Everything was as it was supposed to be. “Good. Taking it one day at a time.”

“That’s all you can do.” Remi grinned as Savage walked back into the kitchen. “Kitty, get Ari to watch Hailey. You're needed in church.”

“What the fuck did I do!” Kitty shouted, pissed at what I didn’t know. Whatever it was, Savage didn’t look like he cared as he kept the door open for his sister.

“Bad word!”

“Catch me later, short pint,” Kitty said, getting to her feet and following her brother out. All of us looked on, wondering what was going on.

When Kitty returned a short time later, we were all in the process of cleaning up the kitchen when we all heard shouting from the front of the clubhouse. Running for the door, we all ran into the main room to find, Reaper shouting orders as he carried Bullseye in his arms, blood dripping on the floor at his feet. “Healer! Get the fuck out here now! Player get Layla to the clinic! Roxy, help me, we have more wounded!”

Brothers came rushing from the hallway as I grabbed Rebekah, picking her up as wounded men were brought in bleeding and screaming out in pain. Roxy instantly went into doctor mode, barking orders left and right, along with Healer, who helped Reaper take Bullseye down to the clinic. It was total pandemonium as men gathered the wounded and made their way downstairs. I’d never seen anything like it before. The blood and pain from the men’s eyes were unbearable. Turning Rebekah’s head, so she couldn’t see what was happening, I left with her and headed back into the kitchen, remembering that little Hailey was left all alone.

“Rebekah, help me. Gather your things and Hailey’s diaper bag.”

“Where are we going?” she asked as I picked up the now crying baby girl in my arms.

“Upstairs,” I said, reaching for her hand. “Let’s go.”

“You ain’t going anywhere, bitch.”
