“What are you doing?” Rory asked.

“I’m looking someone up,” I told her.

There had been stories about Lucas Valentino, but I didn’t believe for one minute that he was a Don any more than my hair was blue. Valentino was an enforcer, and by the rumors, a fucking good one.

That, and he wasn’t part of any sort of bloodline that I knew unless he was a bastard son. But bastards never got promotions. Not unless they were the final option.

Adrian Gallo, on the other hand… Now that was a name Ihadheard before. Cosimo’s nephew. Last I heard, the kid was on the inheritance path. What changed?

Rory peered over my shoulder. “Adrian Gallo?” she asked. “Why do I know that name? Did he invent the wine?”

I shook my head as the search brought back some hits, a hell of a lot of hits actually. “It seems that Mr. Gallo has been busy,” I murmured, looking at some of the headlines.

If this was the right one, Leda didn’t know how deep she was in with this Valentino.

I had his number but little else to get in touch with my sister, but Valentino could rest assured that he was about to meet Nico D’Agostino, and I was going to get my sister back, one way or another.

“I know that look,” Rory said in my ear, sending my senses into overload. “Why don’t you come to the bedroom and let me listen to your plans, Mr. D’Agostino?”

I closed the laptop before turning to gather her in my arms.

“I think that sounds like a good plan.” After all, my wife was far more powerful than anyone gave her credit for.

Lucas Valentino better be fucking ready.

Because I was coming for him.

Chapter 21

Lucas

My heart was still hammering against my ribs as I sat back in my chair, still processing what just happened. I still tasted Leda on my tongue, and my cock stirred once more at the thought of going upstairs and fucking her until we both couldn’t breathe.

She surprised me again.

I drew in a sharp breath, staring at the desk where Leda had been splayed out only moments before, her pink pussy dripping wet with need.

Leda was my addiction.

I could deny it all I wanted to, try to distance myself from her, but in the end, I couldn’t stay away from her. She had opened something inside me that should worry me. Hell, it did worry me. I loved someone, and that was fucking dangerous in my profession.

“Shit,” I sighed. Her fucking scent was all around me, distracting me from my problems. And right now, I had some serious fucking problems. I needed to get my head on straight and not think about her or the fact that I wanted to be buried deep inside her right fucking now.

Sitting up, I reached for my phone that I had put on the desk, only to not find that it was gone. A quick search of the floor told me that it wasn’t there either.

A drop of doubt—icy cold—flowed into my veins. Wasthatwhy she had come down here?

Was she about to fucking betraying me?

I checked the office thoroughly, wanting to believe that Leda had only come down here for me. But when I found my phone in none of the places I looked, I had to accept the harsh truth.

She used me for something. And I hated it.

With a growl, I stalked out of the study and up the stairs. I hated that she weakened me. I hated that she made me believe that I could have something good, something pure like her.

Only for her to reveal her true colors…

Before Leda, I had had nothing but violence. She had given me something else to look forward to.
