“Well, it doesn’t look to me like any of you are feeling too good at the moment,” Hawk mutters as he walks past us to help Onix.
“Actually, we were having a great time until you three lugs arrived,” Onix mutters. “It was nice not to have to think about things.” At her words I tense and glance down at Alaska, I didn’t think of that, is that why they came out to try and forget what happened yesterday?
We make it outside; I look around and then see the car parked by the curb on the other side of the street. Picking Alaska up against my chest I hear her grumble about what people are going to think but I don’t care as I carry her across the street and towards the car. When I’m a couple of steps away from the car I tense when I see the letters that have been scratched onto the car side with some kind of sharp object, and the front passenger window has been broken.
“Fuck,” I grunt in anger, motherfucker is now asking for trouble. I look around to see if I can see anyone suspicious.
“What?” Alaska asks as she glances around and then gasps. “Oh, my car,” she whispers when she sees the destruction.
“What the fuck?” Hunter growls from behind me.
“Oh no,” Dakota murmurs. “I’m so sorry Alaska.” I look down at my woman and see the hurt on her face from seeing that someone would do this to her car. Looking to my left, I try to see if there is anyone that might have seen who would have done this, but it’s a warehouse with no windows facing the outside.
The word whore engraved deeply across the door has my blood boiling, I’m sure the son of a bitch is around here somewhere. “Open the car door,” I mutter, which has Sabre rushing to do my bidding. He then pulls the seat forward so that I can help Alaska into the back. Once Alaska and Dakota are in, I righten the seat.
“Onix will come with me on the bike,” Hawk says when he sees the glass all over the front, we will have to vacuum the car to make sure that none of this glass cuts anyone. Closing the door, I squat down to look at the damage and to scent who has been close to the car. Hunter squats down next to me and then he is raising his head.
I catch a slight sweet scent but I’m not sure if it’s from the person that did this to the car, Hunter stands and then looks around. “Have you got something?” I stand as he starts making his way towards the curb just as a car accelerates out of an alleyway onto the street, nearly driving over Hunter.
“Son of a bitch,” I mutter. “He was here all the time waiting to see our reaction.”
“There’s a camera over there if you can convince the owner of the store to see the footage and if it’s working,” Onix says as she points towards a hardware store.
“I got the number plate,” Hawk says.
“Hopefully, we catch the bastard, I’m going to make him pay for this,” I state as I look towards where the car is.
“Maybe we go out tonight and try to catch the scent?” Hunter suggests which has me nodding in agreement as I would rather catch this son of a bitch sooner than later.
“It’s going to have to be repainted,” Hunter says as we walk back to the car, seeing the deep scratches.
“Did you see who it was?” Alaska asks when I lean down to see her and Dakota through the broken window.
“No, but we have a number plate and scent,” I say. “We will know who he is soon.”
“Scent?” Alaska asks with a surprised look on her face.
“Yes, remember wolves?” Dakota says. “They smell, which helps them to track, it’s quite freaky how well they can smell.”
“Oh, of course.” She nods as if it’s a normal thing to hear, I am pleased that my woman has adapted so quickly to the fact that we are shifters.
“Sabre, go on home, we will be behind you,” I say as I stand up and follow Hunter towards the bikes, seeing that Hawk and Onix are already on his.
“Has King said anything?” I ask when I get on my bike, wondering if they found anything when they went to investigate the van in our property.
“No, nothing. Which could mean it was nothing,” Hawk says as he leans forward to start his bike. We wait for Sabre to drive past before we follow.
ALASKA 14
When we got back, I realized that Dash and Hunter were not behind us, strange as I thought they were following us. Hawk helps Onix off the bike, “Sabre, wait here with Onix and Alaska, I will come to help each one in.”
“I wonder where Dash and Hunter went,” Dakota says as she looks over her should, then she shrugs as she pulls the front seat forward and opens the passenger door.
“Where are you going?" Sabre asks as he jumps out of the driver’s seat and rushes around the car to go and help Dakota.
“It’s fine Sabre, I can make it under my own steam,” she says as she pats his arm and starts to slowly make her way towards the club. I slide out of the car also more than happy to make my own way inside, I made it fine to the car this morning I will make it fine inside. When I’m standing on my two feet I step forward and close the car's passenger door so that I can see the damage to the car.
“Shall I help you inside?” Sabre asks from behind me. Looking over my shoulder, I smile at him.
