I shift back on the seat, gently pulling her with me and to my shock, she leans her head against my shoulder and whispers, “Thank you. I really needed this tonight.”

“Anytime.” I whisper as I tilt my head back and stare at the stars through the open roof above us. Ryxa does the same and we just sit here. Again I feel the need to fill the silence, but I keep my mouth firmly shut. Nothing I say right now will help her. I get the feeling all it would do is make her feel like I’d lured her here for other reasons. The odd thing is, I didn’t. That’s normally who I am, the guy who takes girls to the hidden oasis in the middle of the night just so I can get my dick wet, so why the hell do I just want to sit here, holding Ryxa?

I don’t have an answer to my own question, so I keep my mouth shut and just bask in the warmth her touch sparks.

Eventually I feel her entire body relaxing, then suddenly there’s a soft snore that has me barking a laugh. Ryxa doesn’t wake though, not even when I lift her into my arms, carry her down the stairs, out into the cool night air and back through the main building. She’s sleeping so soundly that I don’t want to wake her, not even to take her to her own dorm room.

I do the only thing I feel comfortable with right now, slip into my own room and place her down gently on my bed. I pull the covers around her and tuck a stray strand of hair away from her face, before leaning down and gently kissing her temple.

“Goodnight, Ryxa. Sweet dreams.” As I close the door to my bedroom, I sigh, she’s probably going to be pissed that I brought her here instead of her own room, but I just couldn’t leave her.

“I certainly hope you didn’t just kidnap a human, brother,or we’re going to have a hell of a lot of explaining to do.” Kier’s voice behind me makes me jump about six feet in the air. I turn around slowly, placing my back to the door.

“No kidnapping going on here.” I blurt.

“Really?” Kier raises his left brow, giving me that look that says he doesn’t believe me.

“Yup.” I chirp.

“You are the worst liar ever.” Ty laughs. “What did you do, get her drunk or drug her?”

“Neither.” I hiss, moving away from the door so our voices don’t wake her. “I took her to the garden in the tower. She looked like she could do with some time away from everything.”

“Let me guess, you didn’t warn her not to smell the Night flowers.” Kier growls.

“What? No, she just fell asleep. I didn’t want her to get a sore neck from sleeping on that bench seat.” I try explaining.

“So you thought you’d kidnap her and let her wake up in a strange room, instead of taking her to her own room. What was your plan here, Seth?” Kier asks, giving me awhat the fucklook.

“She’s going to freak out.” Ty singsongs.

“Why would I freak out?” Her soft voice makes us all jump. “I don’t want to go back to my room right now. Seth did me a favour and he was very sweet about it, so leave him alone.”

Her eyes flick to the clock on the wall and she sighs, “Can I stay here tonight, Seth?”

“Of course you can….” I trail off as she walks over to the couch and lies down on it. “What are you doing?” I ask following her.

“Sleeping, it’s nearly midnight. Make douche one and two leave so I can go to sleep.” She grabs the blanket off the back of the couch and curls up on her side.

“Not happening, Princess. You can’t spend the night in my brother’s room.” I could kill Kier right now. He’s messing things up. “Go back to your own room or you’ll be spending the night with the dragon.” Kier threatens.

His words sink into my tired brain, “What?” I snap, turning to face him. He looks pissed, my guess would be he didn’t like her calling him a douche and dismissing him like he’s a… well, like he’s a human. “She can stay.” I state firmly, moving so I’m standing between the two of them.

“Fine, then we’re staying as well.” He growls, striding over to the other couch. He drops down on it with a huff and folds his arms over his chest. Ty sighs and takes the recliner chair, kicking his shoes off and then putting his feet up and the back down.

“Urgh, forget it, I’d rather face Eric than listen to the two of you.” Ryxa growls getting up off the couch. She tosses the blanket at Kier and starts heading for the door.

“Ryxa, wait, you can have my bed, I’ll take the couch. Just, please don’t leave.” I can’t believe the words coming out of my mouth right now. Why don’t I want her to go? She’s a human, she shouldn’t mean anything to me. Yet here I am, begging her to stay. Sacrificing my own bed, in an effort to convince her.

“I can’t kick you out of your own bed, Seth.”

“You’re not, I’m offering.” I grab her hand and lead her back into my room.

The moment I go to close the door, Kier is off the couch and storming towards us. “Not happening.” He grabs me by the arm and literally forces me away from her, slamming the door with her on the inside. “Good night Ryxa.” He calls through the door.

“Goodnight, Douchebag.” She calls back, making me smile. “Goodnight, Douchebag two. Sweet dreams, Seth.”

My smile grows so big. Kier punches me in the stomach, but it’s so worth it, just to hear the smile in her voice.
