“She waslaughing.” Kier repeats.
“It’s called hysterical laughter for a reason, Kier. That girl just had her heart broken, and you three are the ones responsible.” I roll my eyes, seeing Ty do the same as Kier slams his hands on the table.
“How is that our fault? I only pointed out the rules.” Kier grumbles, glancing at the doorway with a frown. “If he’s too much of a pussy to break one stupid rule to be with a girl like her, then he doesn’t deserve her.”
“Idiot.” I sigh, pushing away from the table. “One of these days you’ll figure it out. Don’t come crying to me when you finally grow a brain.” I’m not sure I could restrain myself long enough to stop from killing them all if they break that girl. Derrick is right, she’s something special. I won’t let them hurt her.
I’m so confused over my own feelings that I run right into someone as I’m leaving the dining room. I grab her, spinning us so we don’t end up on the floor. “Wow, sorry. I….” Words fail me as I stare at the girl in my arms. She’s gorgeous, even the frown pulling her bright red eyebrows down doesn’t detract from her beauty.
“Great, another fucking Douche God who doesn’t look where he’s going.” She snarls, pushing at my chest to dislodge my arms. To my utter shock, she manages to push me back a few steps. “Don’t ever fucking touch me again!” She snaps the words over her shoulder as I watch her walk away.
“Nice to meet you too Mia Woods.” I mutter, knowing without a shadow of a doubt that is who she is by the sheer strength of her alone. On impulse I follow her, curious where she’s off to in such a hurry. Okay, so maybe I’m a little more than curious. She’s smoking hot and the way she was staring at my lips tells me she found me at least a little attractive.
She hurries through the hallways, heading towards the library. I wait for her to go inside before following. Unless she knows where the secret passage is, there’s no way she could slip out of there without having to come back this way.
I open the door silently, stepping into the library. Next thing I know, my back is against the wall and there’s a dagger at my throat.
“Who the fuck are you and why are you following me?” Mia snarls, pressing the dagger harder to my Adam’s apple.
“Tanner Hades andyouare Mia Woods. A Demi-Goddess if I’m not mistaken.”
“Fuck!” She lowers the dagger. “What do you want?”
“Aren’t you worried I’ll rat you out to the Heads?”
“Nope, if you were going to do that, you’d have done it already.”
“Cute, but I’m not going to rat you out. I do however think you’d be better off if you stuck with Zane Zeus and Corey Ares as much as possible. They are aware of who you are as well and more than capable of helping you hide your secret.”
“I guess that explains why those two douche’s tried invading my privacy earlier.”
“Well now that I know you really are a Demi-Goddess and you’re aware of that fact, I’ll leave you to it. Keep your head down, stay out of trouble and try to avoid Zeus, Ares, and Poseidon as much as possible. They’re suspicious of you and I’d rather not have to send you away when we can keep a better eye on you here.”
“What the fuck dude, I have no intention of leaving before I find out what happened to my brother.”
“Your brother?”
“Kalum Forbes, he attended here a couple of years ago and was never heard from again.”
“Was he…” I trail off, looking around to make sure no one else is listening, “Like you?”
“If you mean a Demi, then no. He was a human.”
“So he was a half brother then?”
“No blood relation, I’ve been bouncing from foster home to foster home most of my life. Kalum was the same until we met. He’s all the family I have and I am not going to stop looking into this until I find out what happened to him.”
“Wow. You really like making things easy on me huh?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means, you just answered my questions without me needing to ask them. You can’t stay here. I’m afraid you also won’t find the answers you’re searching for here. Give me a week, I’ll get you the information, then you should leave before Zeus and the others figure out what you are.”
“I’m not going anywhere. Neither you, nor those other idiots, can do anything to stop me.”
“Have it your way, but don’t say you weren’t warned.” I snarl, walking away before I do something I’ll regret.
Like kiss her senseless.
