This was a scene from a horror movie. The lights were off, and small candles were lit in their wake. The wind outside had the tree limbs rattle at the windows.

Why in the hell was I in here?

It was a pull or a calling, I didn’t know which, but it had me tugging along to the large staircase, urging me to climb. The more I climbed, the stronger the pull became. My breath haggard, my hands clammy as I felt the dark mahogany wood at my fingertips on the railing. Red candles lit the hallways.

Oh, shit, I’m going to die in my dream.

My body leaned to the wall of the heavily floral wallpaper and stretched my neck outward so I could try and see further. The yellow flames danced with the drafts that came from several open doorways. Shadows of large picture frames and a grandfather clock kept some areas of the hall hidden.

I still had that strange pull, my body wanting to go further, but my mind wasn’t having any of it. I’ve seen enough horror movies to know what happens next. It was a miracle that I made it this far.

So pat yourself on the back and get the hell out of here, Chrissy.

Taking one step back, the wind caught the candles at the right angle, causing them to die. The moon’s low light was cast inside the end of the hallway. I gasped, smelling the smoke of the blown-out candles to feel my back being pressed up against the wall.

I gasped as a knee was pinned between my legs and two arms on either side of my shoulders. A strong smell of deep musk filled my lungs. I kept shut my eyes, not wanting to see the nightmare that had me pinned to the wall, and my hands had been firmly placed on their chest.

It was warm, a heart beating steadily like it hadn’t used quick movements to get to me. “Open your eyes, Christine,” the voice whispered into my ear, his breath fanning my neck. I whimpered, feeling the heat of his mouth just below my ear lobe. My legs tried to tighten, to feel more protected from him, but his knee only shifted, and his hands picked up my arms and put them over my head.

Oh, dear.

My body trembled, my heart raced, and my breathing was rabid. Lips grazed my neck the hot fire played on my skin. The fire-like tingles ran down my neck, my chest, and straight to my clit. He slowly descended, kissing that heavenly place between my neck and shoulder. A moan escaped me, my breasts pushing outward.

Oh, god.

God isn’t going to save you, Christine, but this nightmare might.

“Open your eyes, Christine.” His voice ran like honey. He straightened his back, standing up to his full height and taking one of his hands off my wrists. He trailed the back side of his knuckle from my cheek to my jawline. “Open those pretty blue eyes for me.”

I shook my head again, biting my lip. Two fingers pulled it from my hold, he tutted. “Can’t have you accidentally biting yourself.” The low growl in his throat had me thinking the most naughty things over this nightmare that lurked in the dark.

“Come on, angel. I’ll only bite when you ask me to.” My eyes flew open to see Sebastian with a panty-dropping smirk. His fangs hovered over the rest of his teeth, and his lips looked so damn kissable.

The pull that I had felt, it ended right here. It had me pulling straight to his chest. There was no up or down. There was no other place than here. Gravity was centered around us.

The moon hid behind the trees, and I found that he was the light of the darkness surrounding us. His face leaned in, his other hand coming down from my wrist to cup my face.

“Sebastian?” My eyes blinked, staring into velvet smooth crimson eyes. He grinned again, rubbing his nose next to mine. My hands reached up to feel his chest, his eyes closed, and as soon as I thought he would kiss me…

My alarm went off.

No!I banged on the stupid phone to turn off the racket. That was so damn hot I couldn’t stand it. I pulled my hair, trying to relieve some of the tension from that dream. I was soaked, not just in sweat either.

Oh, why did I have to get up now? I didn’t have a job. What was the point? I fell back into the sheets, trying to fall asleep again to see that sexy beast try to ravage me, but try as I might, I could not go back. I was too worked up.

I mean, I could dream all I wanted about Sebastian. What was tucked away, hidden in my subconsciousness, was just fine. I just couldn’t act on it, like he would anyway. I met him for five minutes. Plus, I gave him plenty of my distaste the other day, yet with a pinch of niceness at the end, giving him my name.

Shaking it off, I showered, dressed, and figured it would be best to head into the town nearby. Maybe I could get a job to keep my mind off wet dreamy vampires and my mom’s transition. Then I wouldn’t have Suron up my ass trying to keep me away.

I’ll find my own shit to do.

Texting Justin for the keys to his car, I pet Christopher and headed out the door, prancing. Yup, I was prancing like an idiot, and part of me felt like I had really forgotten Wyatt.

Years of dating, loving him, I was over it in three weeks flat. Not bad. I must not have caredthatmuch. I snorted. I knew that was a lie. I did care for the bastard, but I wasn’t going to stoop so low as to go crawling back.

Nope, not this chick.
