I lifted him and kissed him on the cheek. “Did you sleep well? Wow, your diaper is heavy.”

I lay him on the changing table. It was crazy to think that just a few months ago I was clueless about changing. Twice I was caught unaware, and Mo peed when I’d removed his diaper. Now I was a master. As I undid his current diaper, I left it over his penis until I had the new one ready to go.

With his diaper on, I wrangled him into another onesie. “I’ve really got to get you some new clothes.”

The gate buzzed. I picked Mo up and carried him down to the foyer, poking the button to the gate’s intercom. I made a mental note to wire the rest of the rooms to the gate so I could answer it from wherever I was in the house.

“Yeah.”

“Noel? It’s Harper.”

Shit. Until getting Mo up, I was having a pissy morning. I didn’t need her here to ruin it now that I was finally coming out of it.

“Is everything alright?” Maybe she’d had another intruder or something.

“Ah…yes…I just hoped to have a chance to talk to you about something.”

I rolled my eyes. She was here to accuse me of watching her again. “I’m not spying on you.”

“Yes. I know. That’s what I want to talk about.”

Mo’s little hand patted my chest.

I looked at him. “You want me to let her in?” I poked the button to open the gate. “Come on in. I’ll be in Mo’s room.”

I carried him upstairs. “I know you like her, but she’s a little old for you, don’t you think?”

Up in Mo’s room, I pulled out another onesie hoping it was larger, but alas, I still struggled with the snaps.

“Am I here too early? I tried to get here before your morning walk.”

I glanced at Harper over my shoulder, surprised that she knew I took a morning walk with Mo. “No.”

“I was hoping to talk to you about…well…this thing between us.” She remained at the doorway.

“Thing?” My heart jumped but I told it to settle down. There was nothingbetween us. I didn’t do things with women. I definitely didn’t want a thing with Harper. Liar, my heart said.

“Yeah…you know…the animosity and—”

“The sex?”

“Yes.”

I had to admit, I was intrigued, but at the moment, I needed to get Mo dressed. “I guess we can do that. I need to get Mo dressed and fed first.”

Harper’s scent enveloped me, cluing me into the fact that she’d entered the room.

She came to stand next to me. “It looks too small.”

I sighed. “Everything is too small. He’s growing like a weed and needs new duds.”

“You’re both in luck because I happen to be a master shopper. I’d be happy to pick up some things for him.”

I turned my head to her, surprised by her helpful response. “Like everything else, clothing him is something I need to learn.”

Her smile dropped. “Oh…right.”

I hated myself for taking away her smile. “We could go together. Since you’re a master shopper.”
