Once again, I felt pity for both of them. "Why don't you let me make you an omelet with some vegetables and cheese. It will give you more sustenance and nutrients than takeout. Good nutrition is important for energy and a good night's sleep."

He flashed me a grin. It was so sexy that I could feel my nipples hardened. “If only I could give Mo eggs and vegetables to help him sleep too."

"Have you considered that maybe his formula isn't agreeing with him? I don't know anything about babies, but I have some friends that do and on occasion they've mentioned having to swap out their formulas."

"I'll call the doctor tomorrow and ask about that. Thank you."

"In the meantime, you can let him rest there and we can go to the kitchen while I make you something to eat." A part of me was cursing at myself for not shoving them out the door now that Mo was all settled.

I didn't like or trust Noel, but there was something about him that pulled me toward him. I simultaneously wanted to punch him and jump him. It made no sense except I suppose it was because he was sexy AF. My hormones didn't care what type of person he was. They knew the type of pleasure he could bring me, which was all that mattered to them.

"I really should go but I can't turn down a home-cooked meal. So, if you’re sure."

"I wouldn't offer if I wasn't sure."

He gave me another one of those sexy grins that I felt straight down to my prissy.

"Do you think I could use your restroom now that he is settled?"

I pointed down the hall. "First door on the right. I'll be in the kitchen."

He checked to make sure Mo was secure in his seat on the table and then he strode down the hall. I had a flash of an image of him turning left into my bedroom instead and seeing his massive sexy naked body sprawled out on my bed.

Good God Harper. Get a grip.I went into the kitchen, pulling out my phone to text Anne to tell her that I was running late. A few moments later my phone rang. Looking at the caller ID I saw was Anne.

"Hi Anne. I'm sorry —"

"No, it's okay. The truth is, I'm running late too…well actually the real truth is that Brandie is being so cute, and I swear to God she's growing right in front of my eyes and well, I’m finding it hard to leave her."

Had Noel not shown up, this conversation would've been a disappointment. Oh, sure I understood Anne’s predicament. And I would never ask her to choose a night out with me over her baby.

But I'd still be disappointed at missing a night out with my best friend. I could still call Kate to see if she was free. But Mo and Noel were here so maybe it was just as well that I canceled my night out.

"Let's just reschedule for another time," I said.

"Are you sure? I hate to back out on you at the last minute like this.”

"It's fine, really. We can try again next week."

"Thank you, Harper."

"Give my niece a big hug and kiss. Give Bran a hard slug in the arm."

When we hung up, I pulled out the ingredients for omelets. As the pan heated and I chopped vegetables, I wondered what the heck was taking Noel so long in the bathroom. He needed to hurry up.

When these eggs were done, I'd feed him, and then send him and Mo home. After that, maybe I would go out all by myself to relieve some of the tension and agitation that went hand in hand when Noel was around. One thing was for sure, no matter how much my body was craving his touch, I needed to stay far away from him.

CHAPTERTHIRTEEN

Noel

When Harper disappeared into the kitchen, I glanced at Mo one more time to make sure he was safe and then headed to the hall, turning left into Harper’s bedroom instead of into the bathroom. For a moment I was distracted by the large bed with crisp white linens imagining her sleeping there.

"Focus St. Martin." I checked her closet and every nook and cranny I could find in the room. I looked behind her dresser and a vanity. I even looked under the bed. But I didn't find anything that would be connected to the cameras I found in the trees. The cameras had to be hers and Bran’s, so where was the camera feed going so they could watch the footage?

I left her bedroom, glancing up the hall again to make sure Mo was safe and Harper wasn't looking for me. Then I went to the next room. This one was set up as a guest bedroom and like Harper's room, there was nothing in it to indicate she or Bran were surveilling me.

I crossed the hall into the third bedroom that was used as a home office. Bingo. This would be the most likely place for them to watch video taken by the cameras. But as I rummaged around the room, I didn't see anything that fit the bill. I tapped her computer keyboard to see if the computer was on and simply sleeping. The screen came to life. I had a moment of pause before going through Harper's files. It never bothered me to invade privacy on behalf of my clients, but for some reason this felt different.
