“Well, you could keep the baby, raise it alone. You could terminate. You could put the baby up for adoption. You could talk to Ben… In fact, you really should talk to Ben.”
“But he… But we broke up.”
Snapping out of her silence, Tink leans up onto one elbow and takes Iz’s hand. “He still needs to know, babe. You can’t keep this from the father.”
“We’ll be with you every step that you want us, Iz. We’ll never leave you alone to deal with this.”
“Okay, alright…” She’s not even close to okay or alright. “I’d like some time though… No one has to know anything for a little while yet, right?”
“Right,” Tink agrees. “You’re the boss, Iz. Your body, your baby, your life. We won’t tell a soul until you make a decision.”
Iz exhales shakily and sniffles. “Okay. Thank you.”
“Do you know how far along you might be?” I mentally scan a calendar. “That’ll make some decisions for you, because you’ll need doctor appointments, bloodwork, scans…”
“Oh God. I don’t know.” Tears spill over as her new reality crashes down. “We slept together in April…” Her soft voice trembles. “This is already so scary.”
I lean in and hug her shoulder. “Shh honey, I know this is scary, but we’ll make this okay for you. No matter what you choose, we’ll help you.”
But I don’t know what’s going to happen to Jimmy after this.
