“I love it. Do it,” August urged. “Gotta run, man. Let me know if you have any more drama.”
I didn’t know how I came up with that idea but, if August liked it, then it had to be good. He wouldn’t lie about it. I sent my mother a text.
“Hey Mom. I decided to have the charity ball at the flagship mall. And I have a great idea for the theme.”
“Interesting idea. It’s definitely big enough. The fireplace will be a nice touch. What’s the theme?”
“I’m going to call it ‘Come As Your Inner Elf’ and have guests dress up like elves.”
“I absolutely love that. Call me tomorrow to go over the plans.”
“Okay, I have a bunch of ideas for the ball. Ttyl.”
Next, I sent a text to my lost cell phone.
“How do you like the fireplace being added to the mall?”
“I heard a rumor about it. I think it’s for movie nights.”
“Really? Sounds like a great idea. Thanks for your ideas yesterday.”
“I gotta go. My charging cord is really short and my battery is very low.”
“Did you forget to plug yourself in before now?”
“Yes, usually you remember to charge me, but I forgot.”
“Hey Apple, are you enjoying the new Christmas decorations, or did you leave the mall?”
“Some would say I never leave the mall.”
“Then you might have some good ideas for the mall renovations.”
“For the holiday season, maybe popcorn for people in line at Santa’s workshop.”
“I like that idea, I’ll have to pass it on. Did you see the new owners are giving employees hot chocolate every day?”I asked.
“I heard people talking about it.”
“I liked the pictures. Who helped you take them?”
“What makes you think I didn’t take them myself?”
Chapter 23
Paige
There wasn’t anyone in line, so I decided to go chat with Kim. The owner of the cell had been texting me and I really wasn’t sure what was going on.
Why wouldn’t this person want the phone back?
“Hey Kim, I wanted to say again how much fun it was hanging at your place over the weekend.” I leaned on the counter, gazing at the rings. “Are your roommates back?”
“Yeah. I’d rather have you there,” Kim smiled. “Did you see the giant fireplace they put in?”
“I did, and I was wondering how they did it so fast.” I looked out the door to see if anyone was in line. “The new owners must have a lot of money.”
“Probably. I heard they’re gonna have movie nights by the fire. I wanna go to that.” Kim pulled my favorite ring out for me. “Let’s plan on going to the first movie night.”
