“No way, they’re not going to be subject to your behavior. You have to have your own girl here for the month.” I finished my lunch. “It might get boring for them, though. But it is important that my wife like the tropical life and the ocean.”
“Exactly. I still think you should have some competition going on.” Asher finished off his food. “You know, bikini wrestling.”
“Stop. Stop right there. This isn’t some reality dating show.” I walked away, refusing to hear anymore.
“What about just fun activities, then, like volleyball games and karaoke? Maybe skiing.” Asher was on a roll. “You know, things to keep them busy, not bored. Don’t you want your wife to like doing all the things you like to do?”
“That does sound like a good idea. Of course, I’d need to know how they’d handle the limelight and the press, too.” I looked out to the ocean. “That won’t happen on a private island.”
“What about if you host a big party, invite the press and all the stuffy people?” Asher paced back and forth behind me. “Murphy would love to plan that kind of party.”
“Keep going, some of it’s good.” I pulled my cell from my pocket. “Let me see if your mom is coming tomorrow or not.”
“We don’t need her to do this, we can handle it,” Asher argued. “She won’t like our ideas.”
“Your ideas. And yes, she does have to be involved,” I insisted. “She is the magical picker, so she will pick a few girls, just like with your brothers.”
“Okay, you got me there. It has to be Mom,” Asher conceded. “There’s no denying her ability to pick them.”
I sent Aunt Victoria a text.
“Hey, I have an idea about the bride thing. Are you coming tomorrow?”
“Yes, but I can only stay for the day. Worst case, overnight.”
“Worst case? You make it sound like an awful place to come. Lol.”
“Don’t be silly. You have wonderful taste. With your architectural degree, I’m looking forward to seeing the new house.”
“Do you need me to send the yacht for you?”
“No, Murphy and I will fly in. I already scheduled a boat service over.”
“I can just have the yacht there waiting.”
“No need to send that big thing out just to pick us up.”
“I insist.”
“You can insist all you want, but it’s already done.”
“What service are you using?”
“Paradise Cay Marina. I was told they’re the closest to your island.”
“Yes, they certainly are. See you tomorrow.”
“Good, you’re done texting. I have a lot of ideas for activities.” Asher waved me over to the outside deck. “Do you have enough accommodations is the bigger question.”
“This is a ten thousand square foot house. I think it can handle it.” I laughed at how out of touch Asher was to think otherwise. “We’re only getting a few women, Asher, not twenty.”
“I helped design this place, I know what you have. I meant if you have a big party, some guests will need to stay here, too.” Asher opened a bottle of beer one of the crew brought out. “A lot of them will come in their own yachts, so they’ll be taken care of. Some will want to fly in.”
“No way anyone can land a plane here, at least not anytime soon. They could fly in on the bigger island and be shuttled over, but I see what you’re saying. They may want to stay over. There’s room on my yacht. There’s five state rooms.” I recounted in my head. “The family, if they come, can stay on their own yachts, so I think it’ll work out.”
“Don’t forget about the huts on the other side of the island. You could have them fixed up pretty quick,” Asher said. “I can handle that for you. I’ll redesign them a bit and hire a crew or two to knock it out quickly.”
“Wait. Did you just say you would shake the rust off the degree and redesign them?” I chuckled. “This will be good.”
