“Hey.” I wave back, making a dash for the two buck aisle.

It doesn’t take me long to find what I’m looking for and, within moments, I’ve somehow managed to skip the small talk portion of seeing old friends from high school and am swiftly walking back out to the parking lot.

Only this time, I see a Jeep parked next to my car.

One I’ve come to recognize.

My heart leaps into my throat and, instead of trying to make a mad dash to head home, I want to see if the object of my affection is in his vehicle.

And there he is, standing at the back, tall, proud, and fucking hot as hell.

“Was working out at the YMCA and thought this was your car. Figured I’d see if I was right.” His smile melts all the fatigue away.

“I’m so happy to see you.” I open my door, throw the wine in and then make a bee line for his arms.

The strength wrapping around and holding me up is everything I’ve wanted and craved for as long as I can remember. His mouth is at my ear. “Wanna get outta here and go some place not so public?”

Pulling back, I nod quickly. We can’t get there fast enough. “Please.”

His strong hand grabs mine, pulling me around to the passenger side of the Jeep. Like a gentleman, he opens the door, ushering me inside.

As he jogs around the front, my mood lifts. I don’t know what I did to deserve this, but I’ll take it any day of the week.

When he gets in, I watch as he masterfully puts his seatbelt on and starts the engine. “Any place in particular?”

I shake my head as I realize this is just like Janie mentioned. It doesn’t matter what you do as long as you’re together. “Wherever you wanna go.”

As soon as he turns out of the parking lot, I realize he’s going to the park. Where we met before going up to Cupid’s Point. Instead of pulling into a spot, he goes around back behind the public bathrooms.

Glancing over, he gives me a sexy grin. “More private back here, and I don’t think I can wait long enough to take you to my apartment.”

Before I can say anything, he turns the Jeep off and opens the door. While I watch, he runs over to my side, slinging the passenger side open. I don’t stop him as he reaches in and unbuckles my seatbelt, physically turning me so that we’re facing one another.

His warm hand pushes around the side of my neck, dragging me to him. “Kiss me,” I whisper. “Make me forget this crazy day.”

“Your wish is my command.”

Making room for him between my thighs, I press forward so that we’re touching everywhere we can be. Tilting my head to the side, my eyes slide down to his mouth.

“See something you like?” He drawls.

Fisting his shirt in my hands, I nod, pulling him to me. “Yeah, now give it to me, Rookie.”

Our tongues clash, dueling with one another. My fingers fight to touch his skin, needing to feel a connection. His are doing the same as he slips them up my thighs, holding on tightly to my flesh.

A growl in the back of his throat inflames my body, spurring my reaction. Reaching into the neck of his t-shirt, I tug at it. When he realizes what I’m doing, Danny pulls back, allowing me to divest him of the material. My fingers and nails drag against his chest and down his abdomen, stopping at the waistband of his shorts.

With a slight nip, he lets go of my lips, brushing his along my jawline and down my neck. Opening his mouth against my pulse, he sucks at the throbbing. My fingernails dig into his skin.

“Danny,” I whisper on a gasp. “Make me forget this shitty day.”

He moves his lips up to my ear. “You sure?”

“Please…” I beg.

His palms splay against my thighs, pressing them further apart as his hips invade my personal space. One of those hands travels along the inside of my thigh, stopping once it gets to the panel of my panties.

“Good thing you wore a dress today,” he whispers against my skin, before leaning me back slightly against the console. His free hand moves under my shirt and up my chest, his palm landing over my taut nipple. The rough edge of his thumb, calloused by hard work, caresses the tight skin.
