“Good, just went to Chinatown and walked around. Not much to report on my end.” I said through a fake smile.

“Alright, well, I’m glad to hear you’re okay and enjoying some alone time.” The last words sound like he knows about Jack, but I’m sure I’m just reading into it.

“Yeah…” I trail, and there’s a knock on the bathroom door.

“Look, Vince, I gotta go, but I’ll see you Monday, okay?”

“Okay. Goodnight.”

“Goodnight.” I softly say before hanging up and whipping open the door. Jack nearly topples over me, and I know it’s because he had his ear pressed to the door.

“ ‘Scuse me.” I push past him with a grin on my face, and for some reason, he decides not to ask a million questions. I decide that’s the second highlight of my night, next to hearing Vince’s voice. The only thing keeping me sane is knowing that I can see him on Monday, and maybe that’s truly fucked up because I shouldn’t care, but I do. I’ll try to push him out of my mind when I attempt to fall asleep tonight. Maybe I’ll be able to actually get some rest– an ambitious thought.
