First, I got kicked out of my home. Now I was being kicked out of my business. Did he really think I was going to just roll over and take it? Did he think he could quiet my concerns and objections by sleeping with me? By letting me and the dogs move in with him?

“Such a fool, Thea. Such a damn fool.”

It was just like before when he wanted to dump me. He bought me the damn warehouse. Now, he was giving me his big fancy home to live in when he took back the warehouse. I should have known. I should have listened to my brother. He tried to warn me.

I wasn’t going to take it this time. I would put up a fight. I owned the warehouse. I didn’t have to sell. The city could try and condemn the building, but I would fight that as well. I didn’t care if I had to spend every penny we had. I was not going to walk away without putting up a fight.

I grabbed my keys and purse and went back downstairs. “I have to leave,” I said to Ally. “Will you be okay?”

“Yes, but where are you going? What’s wrong? Your face is red, and you look like you are going to kill someone? Did you get a call to do a pickup?”

“No,” I answered as calmly as possible. “I need to have a conversation with my boyfriend. If I do end up in jail, will you please take care of Kona?”

“Thea, what happened? What did he do?”

“He’s tearing down my shelter!” I spun on my heel and walked out.

I knew where he was. He had some big thing at his other tower. I drove a little too fast on my way. I quite literally saw red. I couldn’t remember the last time I had been this furious. Anger driven by pain and betrayal was a very extreme emotion.

I felt invincible.
