She reached out and took his hand, leading him to the couch. “Why don’t you sit and tell me all about it?”

He stopped, and instead of sitting he said, “I’m not sure this is a good idea.”

“What? You divulging all your secrets to me? I promise not to tell.” And I don’t think you will be sharing anything anyway.

Dylan shook his head. “I’m talking about me, you, us on the couch.”

“I don’t bite,” Sofia stated.

“Biting doesn’t worry me. It’s everything that leads up to the biting that we probably don’t want to act on.”

“Are you talking about…”

“Sex,” Dylan blurted out.

She would’ve used a different word, one not so bold, but he’d made his point. Sofia really hadn’t been hitting on him. Flirting a bit. Okay, she wasn’t opposed to having sex with him. Just look at him, he was gorgeous, and if he could make her feel as good in bed as he did just by talking to her, then it was going to be spectacular.

Don’t even think about it. He said no.She totally got it too. Why add another complication to the ones they already had? And if the customers thought she wasn’t concentrating on her job now, she could only imagine how bad it’d be after an all-nighter with Dylan.

Mama might just fire me.That actually was pretty tempting. It would resolve a few of her problems, of course, it would create another one. She wasn’t making much money at all for doing the play. Really, it was enough to pay for parking, and only because she’d found an economy lot, and even that wasn’t nearby. When she was lucky she caught the bus, and other times, she was forced to walk the rest of the way. Sofia hated to admit it, but she needed her job. And right now, she needed Dylan too, in more ways than she’d let him know.

“Dylan, why do men always think about sex? I wasn’t even thinking about that.” Hardly. Well not much. Shit! She would’ve ripped his shirt off and kissed him from head to toe, given the opportunity. Go figure it was Dylan who was bright enough to put it on ice.

Dylan still didn’t sit. “I’m glad. Because we’re having dinner at Mama’s Place and I don’t want you still flush.”

She rolled her eyes. “A bit over-confident are you?” she asked.

“Not one bit. Now, if you don’t mind, I’d better head back to the city. Are you sure you’re going to be okay?” he asked.

No. I’m not going to do anything but think about you not being overconfident.“Of course I am. I’m going to study my lines before heading into work.”

“What time should I pick you up?” he asked.

“Since I’m working there till one, why don’t we just meet there and then you can offer to drive me home like a good boyfriend.”

He raised a brow and said, “I think you’re enjoying this a bit too much.”

Sofia waved her hand in front of herself and said in a southern drawl, “Who? Little ole me?”

Dylan laughed. “Goodnight Sofia. And I don’t think you need to practice too much. Your acting skills seem spot on.”

You mean the part about wanting you? Yup, all just an act.If she was going to study that scene with Dylan, it would be XXX-rated for sure. It’d been a while and her sexual frustration was peaking.

Not trusting her legs or any other part of her body right now, she said, “Thanks. Do you need me to walk you to the door?”

Dylan shook his head. “You sit and relax.” He bent down and kissed her lightly on the lips before heading for the door.

Once she heard the clicking of the auto lock engaging, she let out a breath she’d been holding.

Sofia was glad he was gone. It was damn hard acting all the time. But she might as well put this time to good use. She reached for the script that was sitting on her coffee table. Sofia flipped it to page one and then closed it immediately.

“Is he freaking trying to kill me? I’m dying over here.” It was a sweet torture, but still painful. Her body wanted what he obviously wasn’t willing to give. Even her nipples ached. Tossing the papers back on the table, she got up and headed for her bedroom.

It wasn’t going to be the same, but at least she had something hot to think about. Sometimes you’ve got to take care of things yourself.

When Dylan got outside, he found a police car parked directly behind him. He wasn’t illegally parked, not that he really cared. He’d just pay the ticket. But he was concerned that it might have to do with Charlene. Maybe she’d changed her mind. If so, Sofia might want, or better yet, need, Dylan around a bit longer.

Although his reason for leaving was still hard in his jeans, it wasn’t going to prevent him from being there for her. Walking over to the patrol car, Dylan stood by the driver’s window. He rolled it down and instantly he recognized him.
