“But?”

“But not tonight,” I said.

“Oh.” She tried pulling away, but I held her so she still sat on my lap. “I guess there’s just one thing left for you to do. Drive me home.”

“No. There’s more than that,” I said. “There’s telling you how beautiful you look in the moonlight. There’s telling you that I want to do this again tomorrow, and the day after that, and then the next day.”

She relaxed again against me and asked, “Then why are you sending me home?”

Good question.

“In the past, I never would’ve. But you’re not like anyone I’ve ever met. I guess I just want to do this…differently.”

She looked me in the eyes, trying to read my meaning. I wasn’t even sure what I meant. But she leaned over and kissed me, then said, “Different is definitely the way I would describe us. And back to your original question, yes, I think it’s time you drove me home.”

“And we can continue this tomorrow,” I said, returning her kiss.
