I didn’t fully understand, but I knew a hospital didn’t run on its own. Surely she was free to live her life outside of her job, whatever it was. But the damage was done. I knew I couldn’t erase the feelings going through her right now. All I could do was respect her request and bring her to the hotel. That didn’t mean I was just going to give up.

“I know it’s not the same as your omelets, but I know a place that has good breakfast. A real Irish breakfast. Would you like to join me? We can talk more about the job at that time,” I added, hoping that would persuade her.

She didn’t answer right away, but finally said, “There is a lot you should know before making a decision. Don’t you have to be at the hospital early?”

“I do, so we can make it a late morning breakfast. How about ten?” I asked.

“Do you mind if Logan joins us? Anything I can’t answer, he would be able to,” she explained.

“If that is what you want,” I replied.

It definitely isn’t my first choice.

“I’ll ask him. He might not have time anyway.”

It wasn’t long before we were back at the hotel. As a gentleman, I walked her to her door. She looked down the hallway before stepping up on her tippytoes and kissing my cheek. “Thank you again for a wonderful time and showing me a small piece of Ireland.”

“If you change your mind, I’d be happy to bring you on a country drive tomorrow.” Before she could decline my offer, I added, “Don’t answer now. Let me know after breakfast.” Reesa nodded and I said, “Good night, Reesa. Sleep well.”

“Good night, Finn.” She went inside her hotel room and closed the door.

When I pulled out of the parking lot, I didn’t head home. Instead, I stopped at O’Malley’s. After tonight, I needed a beer. Maybe a few.

If I was going to get any sleep, I needed something to help me forget how damn good she felt in my arms and how badly I wanted to taste those sweet lips of hers.

Damn. I think I’m going to need something a hell of a lot stronger than beer.
