Chapter 18

Jasper

I knew I should’ve slipped away while she still slept, but I needed to hold onto this moment as long as possible. Alysa stirred and snuggled closer to me as though she sensed I was awake.

“Good morning,” I said, trying to wake her. She moaned and buried her head in my chest. “Would it help if I brought you coffee?”

“No,” she grumbled and pulled the sheet up higher. “I don’t want to get up.”

Neither do I.I was an early riser, long before the sun, but it was almost nine and it wouldn’t be long before James called to say he was on his way.

“Alysa, do you…regret last night?” I asked. To my mind, it had been amazing. She was confident with her sexuality and not afraid to tell me what she liked. If I could, I’d spend the entire day following the roadmap to drive her wild. Unfortunately, we probably didn’t even have enough time for one more round, never mind everything I’d like to do with her.

She pulled the sheet down from her head and rested her chin on my chest so I could finally see those beautiful blue eyes. “No. The only regret I have is wasting the past week instead of talking sooner.”

I chuckled. “I never would’ve gotten anything accomplished.” Tapping the tip of her nose with my finger, I added, “Well, nothing political.”

Alysa giggled. “You certainly accomplished a lot last night.” Batting her long lashes at me she asked, “Are you sure we don’t have time to accomplish anything else?”

Oh, how I wish we did.I did not want to ruin the light, playful mood, but I had no choice. “This isn’t about my wanting you to leave, Alysa. It’s what we have to do, for both of us. You understand that, don’t you?” She nodded. “Good, because if things were different here, I’d…” My cell phone rang and cut off whatever wish I had. Good thing, because wanting something didn’t make it reality.

“Already?” she sighed, and rolled off me.

I reached for my phone on the nightstand and looked at the caller ID. Shaking my head, I replied, “It’s Mikal.” I wasn’t taking his call right now. When Alysa was gone, he could have my full attention.

“You’re not going to answer it?”

Pulling her back against me I said, “I have more important things on my mind.” I kissed her gently and licked her lips begging her to open for me.

She pulled back and said, “I thought you said we didn’t have time this morning.”

“I have no problem with making him wait outside. Do you?”

Alysa said, “I pride myself on being prompt.” She ran her hand beneath the sheets and gripped my already hard cock. “But being on time is…overrated.”

The hunger for her only magnified each time. I don’t think I could ever grow tired of your touch. Rolling over so I hovered above her I said, “Now let’s see where I want to begin.” I kissed her lips, then her chin and inched my way down her neck.

Damn, I need a lot longer than an hour.

The time flew by and unfortunately, James wasn’t thrilled with being kept waiting. He’d called a few times and banged on the front door. Eventually I had to acknowledge him before he broke the damn door down.

Picking up the phone I said, “Give us a few minutes. We’re discussing something important.”

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Alysa quickly slipping back into her bra and panties. “I need to go grab some more comfortable clothes for traveling.” She dashed from my room and I was left there with an empty bed.

She hadn’t even left the house yet and already I missed her. What the hell was going on? We’d only known each other a few weeks and she haunted my thoughts in the sweetest way. Damn, I wish there were another way.

I got dressed and went to open the door for James.

“You know the jet is waiting for us, right?” he said snidely.

“It’s not a busy airport. I doubt it is causing a backup of departures.” For the most part, it was the Hendersons that used it. Not many travelers except to New Hope.

“You know it’s not the jet I’m worried about.”

I glared at him and noticed he seemed tenser than usual. “Is there something I should know?”

James nodded. “We can discuss it when Alysa is on her flight.”
