This girl, the one clinging to him, her warm body making his hard and needy, would be in his world for the foreseeable future. Thank the good Lord for small mercies. Even if they wouldn’t be a couple, unknown to her, they would be working together.
For the first time in… forever, he wanted it to not be about a job. Sam didn’t know how much more he could take of his lustful yearnings to be just a guy with his girl, so he shut it down and headed the bike in the direction of Yaya’s house. He eased it into the driveway beside the back door.
Once they’d left the beach, she seemed to have slipped into a trance, just holding him quietly. Not paying attention to where they were, she moaned with disapproval on seeing her home. “No. I don’t want to be here. It’s too sad. I want to keep riding. I love the bike.” She pouted and his initial response was to kiss the pout off her mouth and carry her into the house so he could take things even further.
This sweetheart tempted him beyond anything he’d ever been up against before. “I’ll take you for a ride another time, sweetie, but now, I’m being a gentleman. You need your bed, Sophia.” He slipped off from in front of her and made as if to help her to dismount.
“Wait, take my key and open the door for me, okay?”
Without any hesitation, he took the key and slipped under the vine-covered walkway to the door. That’s when he heard the bike start up, and the last thing he saw were her skirts flying behind her as she headed in the direction they just came from, leaving him here all alone.
Slightly pissed, he couldn’t help but grin at her devilishness. It was exactly the kind of thing he’d do himself in her place, and so he got it. Knew she needed this time. He only prayed the fresh air had cleared away some of her foggy brain and she wouldn’t go too far.
He let himself into the house, into the kitchen area and headed for the coffee machine. He’d think about her possibly connecting with his niece and nephew in a few days and start making plans to assist her if she needed him. He’d be there, just not in the open. In fact, he couldn’t do anything with her in the open. And for the first time in a really long time, he wanted to.
Fuck!
He grinned wryly. She’d just dumped him.
He should be furious.
He wasn’t.
He couldn’t wait to see what her excuse would be.
What a woman!
