Yael

Iwoke up withthe evidence of Alex’s arousal tucked snug between my ass cheeks. Strangely, I didn’t scream or throw myself out of bed in horror. Instead, I laughed and leaned my head back to sniff him. The arm hanging over my middle curled and tugged my body closer to the man behind me.

“What’s so funny?” he mumbled.

“Your dick pressing all up on me. Doesn’t he know we’re enemies?”

“We’re not enemies anymore. That hatchet’s buried.” His lips brushed against the back of my neck as he spoke. Whether it had been by accident or on purpose, my nipples pebbled.

“Okay, we’re not enemies. But are we at the boner-pressing stage of making up?”

His hips rocked once, and we both groaned. “I notice you didn’t hop out of bed.”

“No, I didn’t.”

He got quiet for a moment while he rubbed his forehead back and forth on my shoulder. “You’re not so bad to sleep with. Did you know you barely move? You’re like a corpse.”

“And you like that?”

I felt his smile on my skin, which made me smile too.

“Totally got a thing for dead chicks. It’s my cross to bear.”

I craned my head around to look at him. His hair was wild and messy around his head, and his eyes were still heavy-lidded, but he made my stomach flip-flop. God, he was cute. Why did that absolutely do it for me?

“We have to get up.” I didn’t sound very convincing. I was far too comfortable in this bed with this man. “The wedding.”

“No one will notice if we don’t show.” He nipped at my shoulder, and what do you know, I liked it. “You’ve got goosebumps.”

“That’s from how disgusted I am being snuggled by you.”

“Oh yeah?” The hand on my stomach slid under my shirt, and he tugged me even tighter against him. “You’re right. This is really gross. I’m shuddering with revulsion.”

“Is that what that pulsing thing digging into my ass is? Your revulsion?”

His hips jerked. “Absolutely. Hate you.”

I arched my back just a little. For science. “Hate you too.”

His hand came down hard on my butt cheek, making me jump. “All right, Boo. You’re going to need to get out of this bed before things get awkward. I’m not that kind of guy, you know.”

Laughing, I shoved to my feet and ran into the bathroom without looking back. If I had…well, I might have been crawling right back into bed.

Alex and I danced around each other as we got ready. I wore a dark turquoise midi length dress that made me feel pretty. The bodice dipped just low enough to show wedding-appropriate cleavage. My hair was pulled back in a loose fishtail braid, and I wore coral fan earrings in my ears.

When Alex came out of the bathroom wearing a three-piece gray suit, pale coral shirt, and dark turquoise tie, I nearly squealed. He had asked me the colors I’d planned on wearing, but I never imagined in a million years he would go out of his way to match me so perfectly. And I, Yael Aronson, epic cynic and naysayer of all things romantic, had butterflies in my stomach from the gesture. Also from how incredibly handsome he looked with his hair tied back and beard freshly oiled.

He stopped in front of me, slowly taking me in, and a breath whooshed from his lips.

“Wow, boo. You are the finest thing I’ve ever seen.” He skimmed my cheek with the back of his hand. “Just stunning.”

I beamed under his praise, pressing my palms to his chest. “Thank you, Alex. You are dashing in your suit.”

“Yeah?” He pointed to his patent leather shoes and the flash of purple sock that was visible when he moved. “Not too garish for you, cool girl?”

“Nope. It’s you.”

He frowned down at me. “You say that like it’s a good thing.”
