Wind rippling pink petals so soft

Sinking in, burying my roots deep

Waves of need, the girl I’ll keep

After we took pictures, I needed to find a notebook or receipt or any scrap of paper and write these words down. For now, they were running circuits in my head.

Clark opened the dressing room door and ushered us inside. Reluctantly, I dropped my hold on Maeve. We might’ve agreed...actually, I didn’t know if we’d agreed on jack. Even still, I wasn’t about to feel up my girl in front of—

Holy hell.

Maeve stopped abruptly in front of me, causing me to collide into her back, nearly toppling us both. I laid a steadying hand on her stomach, the other on her hip, making sure she was steady on her feet.

Right in front of us stood Drew Rossi, hopeful excitement written in neon letters across his face.

He raised his hand. “Hey, Maeve.”

“Drew?” Her manicured fingers covered her mouth.

Seemed it was harder for her to believe this asshole was making an appearance, along with the rest of his castmates, than it was for me. Of course he was here. He’d had this woman for a year, still texted her two years later, and now her star was rising.

Clark threw an arm around Drew Rossi’s shoulders. “We don’t have a whole lot of time for reunions.” He pointed back and forth between Maeve and Drew. “But something tells me there’s an interesting story here.”

The second Drew stiffened, I wanted to punch him in the face. When he told Clark he and Maeve were old friends, I wanted to throw him through a brick wall.

I also questioned Clark’s definition of “A-list.” Was being on a shitty teeny bopper show in your thirties considered A-list?

Drew stepped closer to Maeve. “I heard you were playing with Unrequited. That’s cool. I’m so fucking proud of you, Peach.”

Peach? Jesus, who the hell did this pretty-boy douche think he was?

She nodded, eyes wide. Unspeaking, unmoving. She was obviously surprised, but I really needed her to give me some kind of reaction so I knew how the hellIshould have been reacting.

At the moment…yeah, slamming Drew Rossi into the nearest wall was sounding just about right.
