Her hips started rotating in small circles, each pass brushing her cheek against my leg.

“I don’t know why I said that.”

“I do,” she answered. “I was roadkill because I love him. You weren’t wrong. But you said it toher, then you laughed about it. You laughed at me with her.”

I squeezed my eyes shut. I didn’t think I could take this. Not the way she was doing it, spilling it one drop at a time like Chinese water torture.

“I was drunk.” It sounded weak, even to my own ears. Why had I even talked to Natalie? She meant nothing to me.

“Not that drunk, you weren’t.”

“Turn around. Let me see you.”

Her head shook back and forth. “No. You don’t get to see this. I’d have to be a masochist to let you see me like this.”

Her choice of words pricked the back of my mind. A memory of those words coming out of my mouth. It was right there, but I couldn’t quite grasp it.

“Oh god, what did I do?” I groaned.

“You laughed really hard when she asked if we were together.” Adelaide’s hips were really rocking now, and the buzzing got louder, like she’d turned up the speed.

“Baby, I laugh at everything when I’m high.” If I could get out of these binds, turn her around, touch her face, explain. I yanked hard, but I couldn’t get free. I couldn’t get to Adelaide.

“You said I wasn’t relationship material.” Her head fell back as she gasped. “A guy makes one wrong move and I’m done with him.”

“I’m sorry, baby. I never should have said that. I don’t know why I was talking to her like that. I was stupid. So stupid. I need you to turn around.” I slammed my fists into the mattress again and again. If I could have reached my hair, I would have torn it out. “Goddammit, Adelaide, turn around. I’m going crazy not seeing you.”

“Oh god.” She rose and fell on her knees like she was really riding the vibrator. “It’s hitting my G-spot. It’s right there. I’m gonna come.”

My spine arched as my dick dripped precum on my underwear. My entire body was tight and throbbing, heart thrashing like a caged animal.Iwas a caged animal. Wild with desire. None of that mattered, though. I needed to get Adelaide in my arms, to tell her I was wrong, I was sorry, I’d never hurt her again.

“Gotta look at me, baby. I need to see you.”

She shook her head again. “No. You don’t get to see. Only the people out there can see me. They’re looking at my tits. My nipples are so tight. My panties are so soaked. I bet they can see the wet spot on them. They’re going to be ruined after tonight.”

“Let me touch you. Let me help you come.” I tugged so hard on my restraints, my shoulders felt like they were going to come out of their sockets. “Fuck, I hate this. I hate it. I need to get to you.”

“You’d have to be a masochist to be with me, Adam.” Her ass cheeks flexed as she released a long, drawn-out moan. “And you’re no masochist.”

It all came back to me. Adelaide flirting with Pete in my kitchen. Fucking Natalie goading me. The kiss. Adelaide’s sweetness. Knowing if I wanted more with her, even if she did too, it’d be the end of us. I’d fuck up and she’d walk.

So, I fucked up and she walked. I sabotaged us. Maybe not consciously, but I’d done it.

“I messed up,” I bellowed. “God, I messed up.” My chin tipped up to yell to the universe. “I need you to turn the fuck around!”

She matched my scream with one of her own, but hers was an exaltation. Her spine curved into a perfect arc as she made herself come. Riding her vibrator, her ass slapped on my legs, flesh on flesh. I needed to get to her. Had to. I yanked as hard as I could, bruising my wrists and ankles, no closer to getting loose.

“Get me the fuck out of these things. Adelaide, get me out.” I strained and yanked, thrashing on the sheets. One foot came loose, then the next, but I hadn’t broken free.

Adelaide was scrambling to get the restraints off me.

I’d been whittled down to primal need. Had to touch her. Had to get to her. Had to contain her. Never let her go. Make her see. Make her listen. Make her mine.

When my second wrist was unbound, she backed away quickly. I sat up, swinging my legs over the side of the bed, and she skittered around to the other side.

“Get back here.” Even as I barked the command, I was up, heading for her. “We’re not finished. Not even close.”

“Adam…it was just a game. Just a game.” Her hair was wild, rainbow lips swollen like she’d been kissed. The very thought of someone kissing her had me lunging. With a shriek, she circled the mattress, keeping it between us.
