He shook his head. “Life is complicated right now, and it seems like I should figure out what I want there before I decide what I want with a woman.”
The timer buzzed again.
She told everyone to rotate, set the timer, and then faced him. “What are we doing here?”
“I think it’s called foreplay.” He put his elbows on the table and leaned forward. “Tell me you don’t feel what’s going on between us.”
She was silent for a long moment. “You’re just here for three weeks?”
“Yes.” Now that didn’t seem long enough.
“I don’t have flings,” she said.
“I meant it when I said I don’t want a fling.”
“You haven’t said what youdowant,” she pointed out.
He ran a hand through his hair. “That’s because I’m not sure. I’m a bit out of my depth here. All I know is that I don’t like the thought of not spending time with you while I’m here.”
She looked at him askance. “Spend time with me… In bed?”
“Not unless we both decide that’s what we want.”
“That’s not what you want?” she asked, almost sounding affronted.
He had to fist his hands to keep them off her, he wanted it so badly. “Not if you don’t want it.”
She blinked a few times and then shook her head. “I don’t know.”
He nodded. “Fair enough.”
The timer buzzed again.
This time he got up. Taking her hand, he smiled at her. “Rachel, it was a pleasure.”
Her fingers tightened on his when he tried to walk away. “Where are you going?”
“To the next station.” He needed some space to regroup, and he needed to check on Erik. Squeezing her hand, he let go.
She caught his arm. “What if I don’t want you to move on?”
He looked into her gray eyes. “Then ask me to stay.”
“If I do, it doesn’t mean I want more than to get to know you,” she warned him.
“Rachel, I didn’t ask for more than that,” he said gently. “But I’m not going to hide that I think you’re very sexy and that if spending time in bed was an option, I would do whatever it took to make it happen.”
“You like to win,” she said.
“In this case, it’d be win-win, I hope.”
She stared at him for a long moment. “Sit back down.”
He stilled. “Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
There wasn’t a doubt in her voice, so he sat down.
