"Keira."

"Rory. Can I talk to you?"

"I'm listening."

I grabbed his arm and pulled him to a corner. "Your advice sucks. It's not working at all. Is there anything else I can do?"

He smiled at me. "Hmm. That's quite the predicament. Are you sure you've tried everything? I haven't seen you talk to anyone all night except for Emily."

"That's not true." He's been watching me?!

"Keira, did you even invite him?"

"Of course I did." I pointed over to Patrick.

"You mean Patrick?" Rory laughed. "You guys don't exactly seem to be hitting it off."

"Yeah, well, I just met him on the street. I don't think he's interested in me."

"I thought he worked at your office?"

"Yes! Isn't that what I said?"

"No."

"Oh, right, of course you wouldn't know. The street is what we call our office. Like office nicknames. Working on the street? It's just an inside joke at my office. You wouldn't understand."

"Okay."

"And I have tried everything. None of your advice worked."

"That's because he's gay."

Seriously? Damn it, Patrick! "He's not gay."

"Well, he hit on me about an hour ago."

"Oh, please, Rory. I don't think you really know how to tell if someone is hitting on you. I could hit you with a bat and you wouldn't know I was hitting on you."

"That's rather violent of you. But I am curious, why would you think that I don't know if a girl is hitting on me?" He raised his left eyebrow.

If he knows I'm hitting on him, why is he acting like this? It's so frustrating! "Just tell me what else I can do."

"You could just pull him to the side and yell at him. Guys really like that kind of thing."

"I've already tried that."

Rory laughed.

Shit, he's just messing with me. "Wait, what? That's terrible advice."

"And if you've tried that and he's still not getting the hint, you should probably just make the first move."

"I can't do that."

"Because he's gay?"

"No! Because I don't know if he likes me."
