I frown. “The hell is that supposed to mean?”

“Nothing. Don’t worry about it.”

I chew on the inside of my cheek, unsure where to go from here. “Sorry to waste your time. I’ll get going. Thank you for your time, Mr. Stride.”

“Eden, wait a sec—”

I’m out the door before he can stop me.

Chapter 2

Tip #2: Don’t gawk at your roommate’s dildo collection.

EDEN

Iwalk into my shared apartment and find dildoseverywhere.

Okay, maybe not everywhere. They’re neatly organized atop a drying cloth by the sink in the kitchen, arranged by color, not by size or shape. While I appreciate my roommate’s orderly nature, that doesn’t mean I appreciate the assault on my eyes.

“Taylor!” I shout, feeling my face flush with embarrassment. “What have I told you about leaving your toys out?”

My roommate pokes her head out from the bathroom, toothbrush shoved into her mouth. Her gorgeous red hair has been styled into voluptuous glamor curls, and she’s shimmied her sensuous body into a tight, blue, sequined minidress.

“Hey, babe!” she greets chipperly. “Sorry about that. I needed the space in the bathroom to get ready for tonight. Otherwise, I would have washed them in there.”

I sigh as I toe off my heels. I borrowed them from Taylor this morning for the sake of my interview, but I realize now that the extra effort I put into dressing up for the occasion was all in vain.

There was no impressing an asshole studio executive like Hunter Stride.

A stupidlysexyasshole.

Stop it, Eden. Inappropriate.

“What if I’d brought home a guest?”

Taylor snorts. “What guest?”

“I don’t know. A guy or something?”

“Babe, your virgin ass could never muster up the courage to bring a guy home.”

I sniff. “You don’t know that. And quit rubbing it in my face.”

Taylor smiles apologetically. “I say it with love, and you know it.”

“How was your session today?” I ask, trying to change the topic.

She retreats into the bathroom momentarily to spit and rinse. When she returns, Taylor’s wearing a massive smile on her face. “I think I found my whale.”

I smile with her, excited on her behalf. Taylor’s been working as a camgirl for a little over a year now and she seems to be loving it. It’s loads better than her thankless job working retail. Did I think it was weird when she started doing shows for random strangers on the internet? Of course. It took some getting used to, but Taylor’s always been respectful about setting boundaries so that our roommate situation doesn’t get weird.

We have a couple of rules to keep everything running smoothly. The living room, kitchen area, and hallways are shared spaces. She’s only allowed to film in the privacy of her bedroom. Sometimes her viewers want to see her while in the bath or taking a shower, and I’m fine with it as long as she cleans up after herself. It’s never been a problem because Taylor’s normally very neat. Today’s colorful dildo showcase aside.

“What’s he like?” I ask her, shrugging off my coat to hang up by the door.

“He’s so sweet and polite. Kinky as fuck, too.”

“I’m assuming he’s loaded?”
