I laugh. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

“Lib used to watch it on a loop when we were kids. She loved it. I haven’t seen it for years.”

“It’s a classic!”

“It is.” He chuckles. “What do you want to watch now?” I look across at the TV to see the credits rolling.

“I don’t mind. You choose.”

“How about a comedy?Bad Neighbors?”

“Sounds good.”

The movie starts, and I take a mouthful of wine before placing my glass on the nightstand.

“What did you and Jacob do today?” I ask as I stretch out my legs and roll onto my side so I’m facing him. He does the same, putting his face level with mine.

“We went to Lake Marble Falls with Lib. It was great to spend some time with her.”

“That sounds fun.”

“We were going to hire a boat and go on the lake, but I thought taking a two-year-old and a heavily pregnant woman out on the water maybe wasn’t such a good idea.”

He laughs and his chocolate brown eyes shine. My eyes drop to his mouth, and I’ve never wanted to kiss anyone more. When I look back into his eyes, they’re full of heat, and I wonder if he’s thinking the same. I don’t have to wonder for long when he suddenly moves, bringing his body across me. His weight presses me into the mattress as his mouth drops to mine. The kiss starts off gentle, but soon becomes more urgent, and I reach my arms around his neck, pushing my tongue into his mouth. Our tongues dance together, and he moans as I arch up into him. He’s hard already, and I roll my hips, eliciting another moan from him. His hand finds its way under my tank and my skin tingles in every spot he touches. His fingers dance up my stomach before brushing the underside of my breast, and I gasp into his mouth as his thumb sweeps over my pebbled nipple. His lips leave mine and he peppers kisses around my jaw and down my neck. I’m panting and so turned on I can barely think straight. Suddenly, a knock on the door makes us both jump.

“Takeout,” a voice calls. Jack brings his forehead to mine and chuckles, his breathing as labored as mine.

“Hang on,” he shouts. He plants a kiss on my nose before sitting up and climbing off the bed. He adjusts himself before he crosses the room to the door. Sitting up, I quickly pull my tank down and run my fingers through my hair. I catch a glimpse of Claire on the other side of the door, and she flashes me a smile before handing the food to Jack.

“Enjoy,” she calls over her shoulder as she walks away. Jack closes the door and comes back to the bed.

“Do you think she knew what we were doing?” I ask, embarrassment washing over me.

“I think she had a pretty good idea.” He sits down on the bed and kisses me softly. “Let’s eat.” I scoot backwards and sit up, reaching for my food. We’ve missed the start of the movie, but it’s easy to pick up and we eat in comfortable silence. When we’ve finished, Jack tosses everything onto the floor and pulls me down to lie with him, my head resting on his chest.

“What are your plans for the rest of the week?” I ask, as his arms wrap around me.

“Not much. I thought I might take Jacob down to the river and let him have a splash in the water, and I saw a park in Marble Falls today that I think he’ll love.” He looks down at me. “We still have our ride planned for Saturday, right?” I nod, and he smiles. “And then Saturday night I’m out with Mason, Brody, and Josh.”

“Boys’ night?”

“Yeah, it’s been a while. I’m looking forward to it.”

“I guess you don’t get much time to yourself?”

“Try none, but I’m not complaining. I love being Jacob’s dad.” I want to ask about Jacob’s mom, but I don’t. I barely know him and it’s nothing to do with me. I know from Lib she walked out on them, so I’m guessing he gets no help from her. I can’t help thinking what an idiot she must be to have left them both.

We don’t see much of the rest of the movie, spending most of the night making out. It never goes beyond that though, despite my body craving him. When the credits roll on the movie and the room is plunged into darkness, I sigh.

“I guess I should go. I have to be up at six,” I say, adjusting my tank. My lips are swollen from his kisses, and my hair is tangled from where his fingers have been. Reaching up, I try to smooth down my hair. “I’ve had a great time. I’m sorry I fell asleep.”

“Stop apologizing,” he says, his hands tickling my sides. I squeal as he tickles me, and I try to push his hands away.

“Okay, okay. I’ll stop,” I gasp, out of breath from laughing. He stops tickling me and brings his mouth to mine in another scorching kiss. I’m panting again by the time he pulls away.

“I’ll walk you to your room,” he whispers in my ear.

“It’s next door.”
