I lower my head and kiss her softly. Her hands, which are resting on my chest, go up and over my shoulders, her fingers pushing into the hair at the nape of my neck. I bite down gently on her bottom lip and she opens up to me. Our tongues dance together as the kiss becomes more urgent, and it’s like I can’t get close enough to her. I pull her body even closer to mine, and I can feel her nipples hardening against my chest.

I reluctantly pull out of the kiss, conscious that we’re making out in the entryway. If Roman wakes up, I don’t know how comfortable Melody will be with him seeing us. I drop my forehead onto hers while we catch our breath.

“I’ve been thinking about kissing you like that all afternoon,” I whisper.

“You have?”

I nod. “I didn’t get to kiss you for anywhere near long enough earlier.”

She smiles shyly and I chuckle at her reaction, stepping out of our embrace. She reaches for my hand and pulls me into the living room.

“Do you want a drink? I have sodas if you’re working tomorrow.”

“I’m not working tomorrow. I’m on the night shift the day after next. I’d love a beer if you have one.”

“Sure.”

She drops my hand and heads into the kitchen. I follow her, my eyes falling to her ass cheeks that are peeking out from the bottom of her shorts. She reaches into the refrigerator and pulls out two bottles of Bud, placing them on the counter. When she turns to face me, I step toward her. She bites down on her bottom lip as I crowd her space, my arms going to either side of her to rest on the counter.

“I don’t know what’s happening to me, but I can’t stop thinking about you,” I tell her softly.

“I can’t stop thinking about you either.”

Her eyes are wide and her breathing is rapid. I lift one of my hands and cup her neck, my fingers coming over the pulse point on her neck.

“Your heart is racing,” I mutter, swiping my thumb over her bottom lip.

She nods, her eyes fixed on mine. “It’s you. You make me nervous.”

“Nervous?” I ask, frowning a little. That’s not quite the reaction I was expecting.

She shakes her head and drops her eyes from mine. “You’ll think I’m crazy.”

I reach my fingers to her jaw and tilt her chin. “I won’t. Tell me.”

She sighs. “My feelings for you scare the hell out of me. They shouldn’t be so intense so soon.”

“Says who? There are no rules on how you should feel.”

“But we hardly know each other.”

“I know enough. When I’m not with you, I’m thinking about you, and when we’re together, I never want to leave.” I stroke her cheek with my fingers and she leans into my touch.

“We’re both crazy, then?” she asks with a smile.

“I’m crazy about you.”

I lower my head and kiss her. She’s right. These feelingsareintense considering we haven’t known each other long, but I’ve never come close to feeling about anyone the way I feel about her. I’m not going to push her, but I’m not backing off either. I know she feels the same, she just needs some time to trust in those feelings. Despite not knowing her ex, he must have been an idiot to ever let her and Roman go.

I reluctantly step out of the kiss. I want her to be in control of how quickly things develop between us. I’m all in, but I know her marriage breakdown can’t have been easy, and I wouldn’t blame her if it made her wary of a new relationship. She also has Roman to consider. I’ve never dated anyone with kids before, but I know he has to come first and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I grab the bottles of Bud off the countertop and slip my free hand into hers, letting her guide me into the living room. She drops my hand and takes both bottles from me, placing them on the side table. Her arms wind around my neck, and before I can even pull her against me, her lips are on mine. I walk us backwards until my legs hit the sofa and I drag my lips from hers as I sit down. She straddles my lap as she sits on me, and I run my hands up her bare legs, my hands going from her legs to her waist. I’m a little taken aback by how quickly things are moving, but I’m desperate to touch her, and I work my fingers under her tank top. She gasps into my mouth as my hand skates up her side and over her breast, her nipple pebbling under my touch.

“Is this okay?” I ask against her mouth.

She nods, and I waste no time pulling the tank up and over her head. My eyes drop to her lace see-through bra, and my cock strains against my pants as her nipples push against the hot-pink material.

“Fuck, Melody. You’re so beautiful, baby.”
