“What the fuck are you telling her?” Sabre demanded from where he stood at the end of the table. I’d been so taken aback by the things she was saying that I hadn’t realized he’d approached.

For a second, she looked like a deer in the headlights, then she faced him and gave him a sultry smile as she curled her fingers around his belt. With whiplike reflexes, his hand was gripping her wrist. “Have I ever been one that accepts you touching me without my asking?”

Her smile faltered for a moment. Worry creased her brow. “Sabre, don’t be like that.”

“I can be any way I damn well please—especially if you’re upsetting Soleil.” His voice was so cold, I shivered.

“Um, well, I’ll see you around,” she told me as she stood up and pushed in her chair. Avoiding eye contact, she sashayed around him and out into the common area.

“What did she say to upset you?” he asked. “And don’t say she didn’t, because I know you, and your face said it all.”

Unable to look at him, I got up and stomped to the trash to angrily scrape the rest of my food into it. Then I went to the sink and rinsed my plate. I found myself caged in with his two muscular arms on either side of me and that sinful body pressed to my back.

“Tell me,” he murmured in my ear, and his hot breath blowing over my ear did a number on my insides. Fluttery and tingly pulses shot through me, and I sucked in a ragged breath.

“You never told me that I was up for grabs,” I snapped, holding myself rigid and chanting to myself inside my head not to give in and collapse against his hard chest.

“What?” It was spoken in a deadly calm, yet I could feel the way he tensed. My heart was pounding, and I wasn’t sure if it was from anger or need.

“I’m not your ol’ lady,” I explained, though I knew I shouldn’t have to—he knew what I meant.

“You’re my wife,” he ground out.

Frustrated beyond rational thought, I spun in his arms. Mistake number one because now our fronts were pressed together, and holy shit. My anger was giving way to lust. I wanted to hop up and wrap myself around him like a tree frog.

“But no one knows that, and if what you say is true about our history, it’s unlikely that it could be proven. Can it?”

He knew I was right, and his ticking jaw paired with his silence gave him away.

He thrust his hips forward, and his very hard cock pushed into me. Damn. Instant waterfall between my legs. “You want me to make sure everyone knows you’re mine and only mine?”

I knew I had to be utterly out of my fucking mind, but I couldn’t stop my mouth if I wanted to. It obviously had a mind of its own. “Am I?”

“You’re goddamn right you are.”

“Then why doesn’t anyone else know that? Because according to little Miss Buffy there, I’m a pass around and expected to keep all the guys happy.” Defiantly I lifted my chin. Mistake number two because the intoxicating scent of his cologne teased my nose and filled my lungs. It also turned that waterfall down there into a flash flood.

Before it registered with me that he’d moved, his large hand was suddenly wrapped around my throat, startling me. His thumb and forefinger cradled my jaw, and he tilted my head so he could swoop in, then his lips crashed to mine. The kiss wasn’t tender and sweet—it was wild, demanding, and primal.

When he broke loose, we were both breathless, except my legs were like cooked noodles. I had to grab his shirt to stay upright.

“I never stopped loving you, Soleil,” he whispered against my kiss-swollen lips. “Whether you choose to believe it or not, my heart will always be yours.”

“It probably makes me seem unhinged, but every time I’m with you, I feel so damn much, I can barely process it.” The proximity of his body to mine was making my nipples hard and my pussy throb. He stole my breath and made my heart race to catch up. Doing my best to keep my shit together, I continued, “That alone makes me believe the story you told me. When I’m in your arms, all the anger, anxiety about not remembering my past, and the uncertainty about my future—it all disappears. You silence all the chaos in my head. That’s why what she said upset me. I’m yours, no one else’s.”

I might’ve been mistaken, but I thought I saw the shimmer of tears in his beautiful silver eyes before he rapidly blinked. He swallowed hard, then wet his lower lip.

“You sure about this?” he murmured, then I saw him hold his breath.

In a daze, I nodded.

He expelled the air from his lungs in a whoosh before he smirked. “Okay, then.”

After lacing our fingers together, he stepped back, and I practically crumpled against the counter. Hand in hand, he led me through the common area and a door on the side. Loud rock music blared from the speakers, and the clank of weights echoed. Venom was on a weight bench with Blade spotting him. As we approached, both men watched us. Blade was a bit intimidating with all his tattoos and his hard eyes.

Venom sat up, straddling the bench. “Everything okay?”

“I’m officially notifying you that Soleil is my ol’ lady. As soon as Chains gets here tonight, I’ll make it official. I’d do it now, but he’s obviously unavailable at the moment.” Sabre tightened his hold on my hand, whether in support or warning, I wasn’t sure.
