Why am I all bandaged up?

And where the heck are Dante and Seven?

I watch the sun rise, all the while wishing I could end Valentine right here and be done with all of this. I’m suddenly reminded that, while I secretly wish for Valentine’s death, I’d been the one to plead with him to stop beating Luci to death just before I passed out.

Why had I stopped him? Wouldn’t him killing Luci have actually made my life easier?

At the very least, there’d be one less monster in the world.

The bed shifts as Valentine rolls over onto his back and my body stiffens.

“Ah, you’re awake,” he says, his voice thick with sleep. “Good.”

Something about his tone has me questioning the way he says this.

“How long have I been out?”

“A little more than a week.”

I balk at this.

“A week?”

“You’re lucky to be alive. Yet again, Fate seems to have other plans for you. Now, shall we tend to your wounds?” Valentine says without really asking as he reaches to pull me closer, and I grit my teeth against the excruciating pain that racks my body.

If I’ve been out of it for a week, why am I still in so much agony? Shouldn’t I have healed by now? And how have I been kept clean and fed?

Maybe I don’t want to know the answer to that last question.

“What happened to me?”

“Which part do you want to know? The part where thousands of crystal shards were painstakingly dug out of your feet and hands, or the part where I had to extract Luci’s venom from your body.”

My stomach twists into knots as I’m reminded of what Dante had to do to me the last time that happened. Valentine eyes me curiously, his head tilting to the side as if he’s trying to read me like a book.

“Why did it take so long for me to wake up this time?”

“This time?” he says, arching an eyebrow. “So, he’s done it before, that would explain things ... It took so long because you ran, your heightened adrenaline fed the venom. That, and the fact I wasn’t able to heal the wounds I made to extract it from your body.”

I grimace at the thought of what he did to my body without me knowing.

“Why?”

Valentine grins at this.

“Because, what’s the fun in that if you aren’t awake for it?”

With this he shifts to pull me under him as he pushes his way between my legs. It’s only as he does this and shifts back on his heels that I realize he’s completely naked as well.

My eyes widen, burning a mental image of what I’m seeing into my brain before I have a chance to look away. Even from the glimpses I’ve seen of him, I wasn’t expecting the monstrosity that lies between his legs.

My body clenches up in fear even at the mere thought of him using thatthingon anyone. For heaven’s sake, it might as well be a battering ram given the sheer length and thickness of it ... and he’s not even fully erect.

Valentine leans forward slightly to start unwrapping the bandages around my torso, and in doing so,itflops down over my stomach with a weight to it that has me flinching. There’s no doubt in my mind that this is by far the most terrifying of all the naked man parts I’ve seen thus far.

It doesn’t even look pleasurable, at least not for anyone on the receiving end of it.

I don’t know where to look, but it’s almost impossible not to see it, especially as it begins to harden against me with each shift of Valentine’s body over mine.
