“Okay. So, we have to deal with a ghost, as well as drunk people.”

“Yup. Exciting, right?”

“Yeah, exciting is exactly how I would describe it.”

Chapter Nine

Riley

FOR ME, CAMPING WAS always something I loved doing.

When I bought my Jeep, I knew I wanted the addition of a tent rack. It pops up right from a case that is strapped to my roof.

Very convenient. And waking up to the sound of nature is my favorite. This morning it’s birds and the sound of the river.

Luckily, this camp site has showers. I gather my shower items and walk over to the building. It’s early and most people are still sleeping. And thank goodness their showers have hot water. I shower quick and go back to my site. After I eat a granola bar, I strap my sandals on and head to the river.

One of my hobbies is painting rocks. I have to find smooth river rocks to do it with. I generally paint things on the rocks, related to the area I am in and then I take them to the next place and hide them around that town. I’ll have to grab some from when I was in Portland to hide around Columbus Falls on my way back to the bar today.

Hours later, a nap taken, a bucket of rocks collected and five of them painted, and I need to head back to the bar and talk to Gennie.

A quick walk, and I am back to the solid double doors. Once inside I spot Grayson at the bar, he’s busy cleaning.

T. SPEAR

“Hey Grayson” I say, and he turns around. He’s such a cutie.

He’s a country boy through and through. He has a grey t-shirt on and blue wranglers-tightblue wranglers, might I add. Tattoos are peeking from the hem of his sleeves and the way he wears a ball cap, I’m not even sure why it’s so hot.

“Hey munchkin.” He reaches up and takes the hat from his head, ruffling up his wavy hair before returning it to his head.

I roll my eyes and walk up to the bar.

“Is Gennie around?”

“Yeah, she’s in that office there.” He points to the door that’s cracked open. I walked right by it when I walked in.

“Thanks.” I push off the bar and knock on the office door.

“Come in,” Gennie says

I push the door open, enough to pop my head in.

“Hey Gennie, it’s Riley.”

“Yes, Riley. Come on in.”

I do as she says and push the door almost closed behind me.

“So, Grayson told me you know what you’re doing. I don’t see why you can’t fill the spot for the summer.”

“That’s great” I say. I perk up onto my toes a little, excited to have gotten a job so quickly.
