I smiled, pushed past a group of students and shimmied off my leather jacket, leaving me in tight leather trousers and a tight white T-shirt which showed the pink lace bra I wore underneath.

“You look hot,” Polly said as she leaned into me. I turned to see Liam Phillips staring at me. I smiled.

“Please be on time in the future. You are quite the distraction,” he said. I nodded and smiled again.

“He’s married,” Polly said.

I flicked my hand in the air. “I only smiled at him.”

“Mm. Just letting you know.” She sighed. “Anyway, Jack and Blake have asked if we want to do something with them tonight.”

“I’ll think about it.” Because I would, and to be honest, Jack was bloody gorgeous with his chiselled model good looks and sexy body, but I couldn’t get Seb out of my mind. His dark chocolate coloured hair, tanned skin and the deepest brown eyes I’d ever seen. I’d lose myself in them each time I looked at him.

“Well, think quick before Jack finds someone else,” she said.

I raised a shoulder, turned, dipped my chin and looked up through my lashes at her. “If he finds someone that quick, I’m the one who isn’t interested.”

“Oh, Lacey, chill, not everyone is like Carter.”

I pulled out a notepad, my laptop, and a pen from my backpack. Opened my laptop and smoothed my hand over my neck as an icy shiver ran down my spine and a prickle itched my neck. My eyes diverted to the door, and I saw him; like a projected vision floating in fine air. He wasn’t real, some type of spirit? I narrowed my eyes as I stared for a little longer. He disappeared and left a cloud of dark dust, which fizzled in the air.

My mobile dinged. Picking it up, I looked at the screen.

Carter: What did you see?

Me: Nothing.

Carter: We need to talk.

Me: I’m not feeling very talkative.

Carter: Not about us. I’ve been speaking to Clay.

I turned around to see him and shrugged my shoulder.

The mobile dinged again.

Carter: It’s about what you are feeling.

The dots appeared quickly again.

Carter: Seeing.

I didn’t reply for some time as I decided whether to confide in him, but what did I say.

I see dead people. I mean, was he dead?

My mobile dinged. I turned it over and looked.

Carter: I see it too.

Bastard, he can read my mind.

I’d always known I had special abilities. My father used to tell me I was special with far more power than other magical kingdom people. Not sure he should have told me because one day I overheard my dad and uncle having a massive argument about it. But it was obvious, after all I would eventually take over as Queen, I had to be the most powerful—eventually.

But did this mean Carter sensed the same as me?

No… he wouldn’t be sending texts.
