Did she feel it?

She turned her back to me and flicked the switch on the kettle. “I’m having a coffee. Would you like one before you leave?”

I walked behind her, holding her waist, my lips touched the back of her neck, a place she always liked to be kissed. “What were you saying about getting Carter back?”

She turned around, her eyebrows arched, and her eyes flitted across my face, inspecting me. Stopping to stare into my eyes for a beat, her gaze moved to my lips.

“I…” She swallowed, wondering what to say, how to take this further. I could see she was deciding if should she stop this dead in its tracks or pursue it. Or had she recognised the brief touch against her skin.

She bit hard on her bottom lip. I wanted to feel my teeth in the same place, preferably while I was sliding in and out of her as I always did. Desperate to feel her again.

Her eyes raised, she smiled. “Maybe another time. I don’t know if it’s a good idea.” But as much as she claimed she wasn’t so sure, her face, her eyes and her body moved closer to me.

My heart thumped hard at my rib cage. I preferred she told me she always wanted this, she knew who I was and I wanted her to tell me she always wanted me. Not today though.

“Why isn’t it a good idea?” I said, pushing it a little further.

“Because you’re Carter’s friend and…” She blew out a breath.

“And…”

“It’s not the right thing to do.” She burst into a nervous laugh as her chest rose and dropped. Her eyes remained on mine, not breaking the contact.

“Do you still love him?”

“Nope,” she said.

I narrowed my eyes and shook my head.

“If I loved him, I wouldn’t be so attracted to you.”

She feels it.

“That makes two of us,” I said and closed the distance between us as our faces almost touched.

She giggled. “You’re attracted to yourself?”

I laughed and pulled her to me. My lips descended onto hers and we settled into a long kiss as her hands roamed up and down my back, and I was so turned on I licked over her lips, and she moaned into my mouth.

And I remembered everything, her taste, her smell, the kisses and the love I always had for her. But she didn’t remember, not yet, but she would. I wanted to tell her, but she wasn’t ready yet. And I couldn’t take the risk.

Picking her up, she wrapped her legs around my waist. “Which is your bedroom?”

She pointed to the left. I walked in the direction and lowered her onto the bed. Pushing up the lace top, I moved my hand underneath and stroked my thumb over her lace-covered nipple. She gasped, and I took it from her with another searing kiss.

“Just kissing. No sex.” She gasped when she came up for air, in between kisses. “I thought you needed to know that before this goes too far.”

Fine, because kissing her was the best thing in the world. It was far too easy, but it always was.

“What’s too far, Aurora?” I asked, looking into her beautiful eyes. I loved that they sparkled when she was turned on. She swallowed a little; her nerves clear. But as though she changed her mind, she gave me a wicked smile.

“Oh, I don’t know, maybe when you’re hard.”

I took her hand that rested on my back and pushed it onto my cock. “Too late for that,” I rumbled. “I was hard the moment I saw you.”

She grinned and squeezed. My eyes shot into the back of my head. “Fuck, you can’t do that.”

She laughed and squeezed again. “You mean this?”
