“Did they kiss you?” Hadley’s scandalized whisper makes me laugh as she hides her face in her coffee cup so my dad doesn’t hear her.
“Too fucking early for this bullshit,” my dad mumbles as he walks out of the kitchen as the doorbell rings. “I’ve got it!” he calls out like a herd of giggling girls is running for the door.
“Well?” Hadley implores me with a stern look.
Rolling my eyes, I take a long sip of my coffee before finally answering. “Yes. Both of them did. Multiple times.”
“Both?” Her eyes widen as large as saucers. I nod. “Are you going to choose one?”
That particular thought never entered my mind. “Do I have to?”
“Aria, you have a guest.” Dad’s chilling voice has us both looking up to see our friend Kelsey Ward following along behind him. She transferred to our school at the beginning of the year and immediately befriended Hads and me.
At first, I was leery due to my past, but eventually, I accepted her shy attitude as being more like me than I thought. She never made many friends outside of us, and I think that’s why she’s always coming around. She didn’t take the time to acquaint herself with more people.
“Morning, Kels.” Hadley jumps up to grab a cup. “What’s going on?”
Her typically present smile is missing today. “Nothing.” She shrugs, and I share a quick glance with Hadley.
“Did you go to that party last night?” I ask her. Hadley said it was pretty boring, and she left after an hour.
Her scowl is all the answer I need. “There was no one there I wanted to hang out with.” I see Hadley’s eyebrows purse together as she places the hot brew in front of our friend.
An awkwardness overtakes the room as Hadley tries to bite back the retort to Kelsey’s subtle insult, and I work on not squirming. I can clearly see something is on the other woman’s mind, though.
The dinging of my phone stops me from doing or saying anything else, and I breathe a sigh of relief. Seeing a group text between me, Seven, and Severo, I can’t hide my smile.
Sev: Thinking about you princess.
Ro: Fucking miss you baby.
“Who’s that?” Kelsey asks, and I miss the tone of her voice.
“Her men.” Hadley giggles as she comes over to see what they’ve sent. “You’re going to be a greedy bitch and keep them both, aren’t you?” I know she’s playing with me, but I glance up to make sure. Her smile is as wide as I’ve ever seen it.
“Two men?” We both look at Kelsey this time. Her disgust is evident.
“What’s wrong with that?” I ask her. We’ve been around trios our entire lives. Our uncles, Dimitri and Daniel, have always speculated that the twins would be no different than them.
“It’s just…gross. And they’re brothers. Isn’t that incest?” I can’t tell if it’s because she didn’t grow up as we did or because she’s genuinely appalled.
Thankfully, Hadley takes the situation out of my hands. “No, it’s not incest. Aria is the focus of their pleasure, not each other. Besides, our aunt and uncles have been a trio for almost three decades, and they are some of the happiest people we know.”
Ignoring the glares my cousin and friend are now warring over, I go back to the two men who have occupied my mind for far too long.
Me: I had fun last night.
I’m terrible at flirting. I don’t even know if I’d recognize if I were doing it. It doesn’t take long for them to respond.
Ro: Pie for dessert tonight.
Sev: Cherry pie.
“Huh?” How did we go from talking about missing each other to pie?
“Oh. My. God.” Hadley breaks into a fit of laughter at the confused look on my face. “Cherry pie, Aria. Dessert. Come on!”
“What about pie?” Dad walks in with Uncles Cas and Luther.
