Darren’s shove to my shoulder shifted my attention from Jax. “So, you patched things up with my stubborn cow of a sister?”

I scoffed around the edge of my glass as I lifted it to my lips. “As best I can at this stage, man.”

“How’d she cave so quickly?” He lifted his brows expectantly, knowing full well that Jax giving out forgiveness happened as often as a Reverend Mother dishing out condoms and telling the sisters to suit up before saddling up.

I swirled the glass of rum in my hand andtsked.“I let her touch my head.”

Darren laughed in my face. “Whoa. No shit! Jeez, mate, you must’ve been begging for forgiveness.”

“It won’t happen again, trust me.”

He released a large exhale while smiling and shaking his head. His dark eyes, much like Jax’s, shone with happiness as opposed to the she-devil’s glare.

“It’s so fucking good to have you home, brother.”

I clapped him on the shoulder and squeezed. “It’s good to be home, bro.”

My eyes drew back to Jax and found her watching us with a softened expression. Realising she’d let her icy demeanour slip, she squared her shoulders and lifted her chin, then focused back on sipping her wine.

Darren eyed her while talking to me.“She’ll come ‘round. Part of her bitchy mood is because I had to blackmail her to get her here tonight.”

I scoffed. “Because of me, I’m assuming?”

He smirked. “Yes, because of you. You’re both as bad as the other.”

“Bullshit!” I exclaimed through a burst of laughter.

“No bullshit.”

Smirking, I shook my head and went to take another sip of rum. With the glass raised to my mouth, my eyes connected with J’s again. I simply couldn’t stop myself from looking at her. She didn’t glance away or blink, and neither did I as I let the alcohol slide over my tongue. I hissed away the burn and blindly set the glass on the table. Resting my forearms on either side of it, I leaned forward and welcomed Jax’s little nostril-flare of annoyance. She held our connection as her lips pressed to the rim of her wineglass. The movement, slow and sensual, hit me right it the spot it shouldn’t have. Deep. Where primal and forbidden urges lay and needed to stay.

Her cock tease ended when Lozza bumped her tits into J’s shoulder. “Oh mygod,I love this song! C’mon, bitches, we’re dancing!” She roughly tugged on Callie’s arm and towed both her and Jax to the dance floor. Needing no encouragement, the three of them shimmied their way through the crowd until a spot opened up for them.

Darren raised his voice over the music. “Well, that’s them for the night.”

“The band’s pretty fucking decent.” I angled closer. “Jax has changed, huh?”

He rolled his eyes dramatically. “Cock-bait, you mean?”

“Yeah, that’s exactly what I mean.”

Some of the joviality slipped from his expression. “She changed when you left, man.”

I shook my head solemnly. “I know. We both did. But I’mma make it up to her. I can fix it, I’m sure.”

“Good fucking luck.”

“Ohshit!”Marc exclaimed beside us; his eyes glued to the dance floor.

Daz and I turned and let out a collective splutter: his scandalised, mine in appreciation of the three girls dancing as a trio. Callie was wedged between Jax and Loz in a hot-as-sin sandwich and fuck me if it didn’t look delicious. Unable to tear my eyes away, I didn’t get a read on Darren’s expression, but his string of Spanish expletives summed up his reaction perfectly.

“You gotta admit, mate, thatis hot,” Marc yelled sideways at Darren.

“I don’t thinkhotis the term I’d use while watching my sister grind on my girlfriend. Emotionally scarring is more like it.”

Marc downed his beer, then slammed the empty bottle down. “Don’t need to invite me twice. I’m going in!”

Darren and I snickered as he pushed his way into the crowd. Arriving at the girls’ side, he immediately became engulfed by the man-eating trio of dreams-come-true.
