To avoid acknowledging how much he meant to me, I licked the side of his face, tasting my climax on his skin. He snagged my jaw and refused to let me angle away. Despite our dark surroundings, Avery’s eyes caught a flash of light that managed to find its way through the shadows.

“Don’t deflect,” he hissed.

“I’m not.”

“You are. Now, your place, or mine?”

I laughed quietly. “Most definitely yours.”

“Just like old times, eh, Hellcat?”

He stepped away and tugged his jeans into place, and I pulled mine up without a word.

“Hells?” Avery’s tone stopped me as I took a step into the alleyway with my just fuckedhead held high.

“Yeah?”

“I’m glad I found you.”

I breathed out through a smile and reached for his hand. “I’m surprised you didn’t find me sooner.”

He scoffed. “You’re not an easy woman to find when I’ve been scouring South Africa instead of looking right under my nose.”

“No one said I’d make it easy for you, Montgomery.”

A rumbling chuckle came from my side as we linked our fingers and walked hand-in-hand to the sidewalk.

“You are one woman that’s completely worth the effort.” We passed the bar I’d found him at, and he halted my steps. “Wait here, Hells. Give me a few minutes to clean up, then you can follow me home.”

“Take your time—I still have to get takeout.”

He laughed, kissed my cheek, then strode through the bar doors with the air of arrogance set in his shoulders I’d always admired.

Pausing to watch him briefly, I snickered as he wove his way through high bar tables to the bathrooms at the rear, ass-thumb and pussy-face proudly on display for anyone who cared to scrutinize his appearance.

Chapter Three

Avery

The takeout lay forgotten on my thighs, and I found myself smiling and shaking my head at Hallie. She sat beside me on the couch, legs crossed and chewing down her food like she hadn’t eaten in months. Sex always made her hungry. A familiar pout formed on her lips as her chewing came to an abrupt halt.

“Stop fucking watching me eat.”

I snorted and relaxed against into the cushions. “Can’t fucking help it, Hells. I’ve missed you.”

She laughed and swallowed her mouthful. “Correction: you’ve missed the sex.”

“I’ve missed it all.”

“That’s a lie.”

Slinging my arm across the back of the couch, I smirked when Hallie scoffed.

“God’s honest truth. I’ve even missed finding your fucking hair all through my bathroom.” No matter where she went in my house, she’d leave a trail of long, freshly shed locks behind her. “I literally could have made tiny balls of Hell and sold them for a mint.”

Her gaze cut from her food to meet mine for the first time since the conversation started. A hint of a smirk toyed at her still-pouted lips. “Did you keep them?”

“The fuck do you think?”
