“Thanks.” Quinn went to walk Danica out, but her sister
shook her head.
“I know where the door is.”
“Okay.”
Quinn waited until Danica was gone, then sunk down on
the couch in the living room. It was rock hard. She’d bought it
because it was nice. It was this sky blue leather that Quinn had
been in love with when she saw it at the store. She’d imagined
it in her condo, imagined how she’d decorate around that
amazing color. She had to have one unique piece, so she’d
splurged. Unfortunately, she hadn’t thought to actually sit on it
to test it out. What a mistake that was.
At least it still looked good.
Quinn shut her eyes. She imagined Dallas in the alley
when she told her everything. Quinn realized how much
courage it had taken to be able to admit what actually
happened. She knew that she hadn’t been very understanding
either. She still hadn’t fully processed what it all meant. She
hadn’t thought it could change anything. That it would affect
what she did now. She still didn’t know what to think. There
were too many thoughts and too many emotions to narrow it
down.
In short, things were messy, she was a mess, Dallas was
kind of a mess, the past was messy, the present was a hot
mess, and mess was strong in the forecast for the future.
Quinn got to the point where the only question she kept
tossing around in her brain, over and over, was Billy’s. What
was she going to do about it?
