Alejandro clears his throat, and she looks at him.

“Estelle, would you do me the honor of taking Mia up to her bed?”

“Of course,” Estelle answers, but she looks like she doesn’t want to leave the table just yet.

I just learned something. When she’s talking to Alejandro or he tells her to do something, she backs right down. She doesn’t give him that attitude, but I don’t think it’s just out of respect. She’s protective of him, but she knows when to push and when to fall back.

As Estelle walks over to Alejandro and picks Mia up, who’s now fast asleep, Alejandro’s eyes rivet to me, stripping me as bare as he did yesterday with invisible fingers.

“Enjoy the rest of the night,” Estelle calls over her shoulder.

She gives me a hard glare before leaving through the door, and a shiver runs down my spine when I contemplate the possibility of her screwing this job up for me.

Alejandro is close to her. That’s why she joined us for dinner. If she tells him she doesn’t like me for one reason or another, he might kick my ass out. What the hell would I do then?

Alejandro stands, and I return my gaze to him.

“Finished eating?” He glances at the last bit of rice on my plate.

“Yes. I’m stuffed.” I set my knife and fork down.

“Good, come with me.” His volcanic eyes take me in, paralyzing my will with that magnetic pull. “Let’s go upstairs.”

Upstairs.

Going upstairs can only mean one thing, and the anticipation of what it will feel like to have him touch me again sends a jolt of need through me.

It curls low in my belly and pulses right down to where I crave him the most.

My mouth waters when I think of all the things I imagined him doing to me, yet the warning in my heart cautions me to be careful of this wild attraction.

I just don’t know how I can when he’s looking at me like he wants to devour me.

And a traitorous side of my body wants him to.
