The Ghost had decided to deal with the Prophet himself.

I’d kept my eyes on the man when he’d climbed onto his horse in the dead of night. I’d followed his path a fair distance along the road.

I knew what direction he was going. He was heading into the wilds and there were a number of places he could be heading.

I had planned to stay and watch over Ariana for a time longer, but the Recruiter’s quick exit had made that impossible. With more haste than I typically cared for, I’d delivered her father’s gift. I knew she could handle the Acolyte, especially now with Magnar at her side.

I gently kicked my black stallion’s flanks and flicked the reins against his throat.

It was time for my journey to begin.
