“Angry, then,” he corrects.

“I’m not angry!” I shout before I can help myself. “I’m horny and sexually frustrated!”

Thatseems to hit him. His mouth falls open, and he blinks at me.

“I’m not looking for a knight in shining armor to save me from my own sorrow, Caleb Walker.” Energized by my rage, I snatch the blanket from around my feet and ball it up against my chest. “I kissed you because I wanted to. Because you’re a good-looking guy and I find you sexy as all hell.” My declaration seems to stun him, allowing me to muscle my way around his taciturn ass. “I’m a healthy woman who enjoys sex. I’ll only apologize for that if I was mistaken in reading your reactions as wanting the same thing.”

“No, I—”

“In the meantime,” I cut him off. I’m not interested in what he has to say. I’m barely looking at him. I just want to get out of here and retreat to my little room. “If ever you feel the need to change careers, I recommend staying away from psychiatry.” On his front doorstep, I finally turn to bid him a final message, “You’re good with your hands, Walker, but the moment you use your brain, you get it all, entirely wrong!”

And then I slam his own front door in his face.
