Chapter 14
Maverick
This has been a long fucking day. We decided it was best to lay low for a little while and try to figure out exactly what Viper is trying to prove. Obviously, this is about his men from the safe house, but if memory serves me correctly, they made the first move by taking my guns so, tough shit. I’ve got Tank and Romeo keeping an eye on them. I told Skittles and Dice to stick with Dani and Tanner. I want them glued to their fucking hips. No excuses.
I sent Tanner a text. I’m really not sure why I feel responsible for her all of a sudden, but I do. I know her brother is here, and he can protect her, but this protective instinct seems to be something I can’t control.
Zeke: Vix, I will be gone for a couple of days. Stick with skittles.
Vix: Who is this?
Zeke: Who else calls you Vix?
Vix: Maverick? Why is your contact under Zeke?
Zeke: Because that’s my name.
Vix: Ok…...but everyone calls you Maverick…
Zeke: Always with the questions. You can call me Zeke. When it’s you and me.
Vix: ok, Zeke.
Zeke: Be good baby.
Vix: I’ll try…...
Zeke: Tanner.
Vix ;)
A fucking winking emoji. She is still challenging my authority. I know she doesn’t understand club life yet, but I’m growing impatient. Add that to the fact I want to tear her clothes off anytime she’s within five feet of me has me unusually agitated. She’s my best friend’s sister for one, and two, she’s young. Too fucking young. Yes, she’s eighteen, but her eyes look so damn innocent and for some reason it makes my chest tighten when she looks at me like she did that day at Maxi’s. Like I was a hero. We may be the Knights of Paradise, but I’m not her knight in shining armor. If she were any other woman, I wouldn’t have a problem taking what I wanted, but my Vix is…. different.
My Vix. When did she become my? Jesus. Chasity of course, has been available to help relax me, but it isn’t Chasity I’m imagining when I’m pounding into her from behind. The term fucked up doesn’t even do it justice. Then I went off script and told Tanner she is not allowed on anyone's bike but mine. If Dom hears about that I’m sure he will have something to say. I have never let any woman ride on my bike, so if that doesn’t raise red fucking flags, I don’t know what does.
It’s been three weeks since the ordeal at Maxi’s. Club business is still booming as usual. Dom and I had to take a short road trip this week to meet with a new buyer near Shreveport, so we enjoyed the open road for a few days. I left strict orders for Tanner and Dani. Tanner mostly, because Dani knows how all this works. I could hear her smart ass comments in the background when I would call Skittles to check on her.
It’s Friday night. We finally made it back about 7:00. My ass is numb, and I really need a beer. As soon as we walked in the door, Dom latched onto the closest girl he could find and dragged her up the stairs. He seemed a little on edge this week. I guess he just needs something to sink into.
I hear laughter from the main room. Walking through the kitchen to the hallway, I give Boston a fist bump as he motorboats Violet's tits. I can hear Dani’s voice and then cackling from the bar. I round the corner and I instantly tense, clenching my fists. Tanner is at the bar with a tattooed arm hanging around her waist. My eyes narrow on Sniper, one of our newest prospects.
Dani tugs on Tanner's arm. “Seriously Sniper, she’s never drank before.”
“I jussss had some tea, Dani,” Tanner slurs.
“T let’s get you upstairs,” Dani begs as she lowers her from the bar stool.
Tanner laughs and hiccups as she leans against Dani’s side. She’s drunk.
“What the fuck is going on here?” I bark. I stride over to Tanner and glare at Sniper.
“Hey Prez, we just had a few drinks, that's all.” He holds up his palms like he didn’t know what the fuck he was doing.
“Why is she down here alone?” I ask Dani, who looks guilty as she lowers her eyes to the floor.
“I went to the store with Dice for Mom. We weren’t gone long,” she whines.
“Where the hell is Skittles?” I growl as I search the room.
