‘You want to go home? Suck my dick,’ he says, pumping himself.
I grin. ‘Asshole,’ I say, then I reach for his cock, grab his balls as tight as I can and squeeze as I pull at the door handle on the far side.
The door swings open as he screams and then I push and clamber over him, scooping my phone up and making sure to knee him as hard as I can on the way over, and then I’m out and running as fast as I can whilst I hear him moaning in pain behind me.
I blast through the doors of the fast-food joint as I hear him wheelspin away, and I realise that I don’t even know where I am, then I close my eyes as I start to cry. I clutch my phone to my chest as I walk as fast as possible to the quietest corner, and then I tap on Felicity’s name and press to call.
’Nine-one-one,’ I say, my voice shaking as she answers.
‘I’m on my way,’ she says.

It’s been four hours since Mackenzie left, and every second has felt like a lifetime.
I keep picturing her with that fucking kid. His dick inside her mouth, his unwashed hands touching her perfect skin. He’s not worthy of her. She’s a fucking angel.
I stand up again and pace, my blood like fire inside my veins as the browser window refreshes and her location updates, the little GPS inside her phone telling me exactly where she is. I logged into her account again. I know I shouldn’t have done it, but I can’t help it. I need to know she’s safe.
I can’t believe he’s taking her to a fucking drive-thru. At least it looks as if they’re inside. The last place they went to was a fucking dive bar, and I almost got in the car and drove down there so I could drag her out and bring her home myself. The only thing that stopped me was the girls, alone and asleep upstairs. At least I still have my priorities, even if I am losing my head.
I hear a ding that sounds like a message and I pull out my phone but it’s blank, and then I look up at the screen and see a notification I haven’t seen before.
She has a message.
I can read her messages? This I didn’t fucking know.
My heart thumps as I move the mouse, and click.
It’s from Felicity.
Where are you? X
I read up the chain, frowning as each one hits my eyes, and then the screen scrolls down as Mackenzie replies.
Inside, back table. Where are you? Where is he? x
I’m outside. He’s gone x
Is she in trouble? Did he ditch her? I stand up, my palms sweating, unsure what to do. I take a breath, close my eyes, and think.
If Felicity is there, then she’s safe, but why did she come? What happened? He must have driven her out there, ostensibly for food, but then he’s just left? Did he try something on and she told him to fuck off? My chest swells with pride for a moment, but then I realise I know nothing.
Her little marker moves suddenly, shifting to the parking lot and my eyes narrow as I wait.
It moves again, out to the road and then it begins to travel. She’s in the car, most likely with her sister, and she’s heading this way.
I nod.
Okay. Okay.
Good.
Twenty minutes later I hear tyres on the gravel outside and I look out through the blinds and see Felicity’s car, the headlights blinking out as their silhouettes shimmer.
For a while they stay still, talking, and then Mackenzie leans across and they embrace, holding each other tight. Then the passenger door opens and she steps out into the moonlight and my heart skips a beat.
I hear keys in the lock, the door click open and closed, and then feet skipping fast up the stairs and I relax and close my eyes.
